“Very Nice....would stay again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2010

This is a very nice hotel for the money. I paid $92 for 5 people. The rooms are large, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is wonderful. Like a buffet. Very nice dining area. My only complaint was the indoor pool. It was dimly lit and not heated. It was too cold for my small grandchildren to go into. The hot tub was nice. There were very loud teenagers that no one seemed to bother with, but you could not hear them in your room. Overall, it is a great hotel.

“Good for this price point”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

Getting a cab from the Lansing airport to this hotel was no easy feat -- most of the cabbies I asked didn't want to take a solo traveler to this location and instead sought groups of passengers heading toward the university. (By the way, how is it cabbies are allowed to do this in Lansing?!) But, once I arrived, the location was convenient for me as I had a meeting at a nearby business. I arrived late at night, but the staff was friendly and check-in was fast, which was much appreciated. As is typical for this range of hotels, the room beddings were thin and scratchy, and the furnishings were somwhat cheap-looking. The mattress was rather hard. The blanket on the bed was very thin, and no extra blankets were provided in the room. As a solo female traveler, I'd have preferred not to be on the ground floor, but nothing else was available by the time I checked in. If I return, I'll ask for 2nd floor when I make my reservation.

On a more positive note, everything was in clean and in good condition. Overall, the accomodations were on par with what one should reasonably expect from this mid-level price point and class of hotel. The food and soda vending machines were reasonably priced and well stocked. The wi-fi was convenient. There was a complimentary breakfast that wasn't especially extensive but sufficient. I would stay there again, but I'd rent a car rather than depending on cabs.

“Nice hotel. Free breakfast.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 May 2010

This hotel is what you would expect for a select-service property: clean, pleasant, no pretense. The complimentary breakfast is a nice touch. We usually stay here when my family is in town so that my nephew can take advantage of the pool. Also, there is a great coffee shop (Coffee Jam) next door that has great coffee, pastries, quiche, and sandwiches. Make sure you check it out.

“Basic Room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2009

We stayed here for one night at the beginning of our trip into Michigan. We were looking for a basic room for the night, and that is exactly what we got.

The queen size beds were nice, but other than that the room and service didn't overly impress, or disappoint either.

Pros
- Nice, clean room
- Ample counter space in bathroom
- Free breakfast - even if basic bagel, cereal, offering
- Close to travel routes

Cons
- SMALL pool
- If you want more than basic, this isn't for you
- Asked for adjoining rooms, instead were put on same floor (okay, but we arrived early - before 5 - and the hotel was not that full).

Overall, would stay here again if needing a place for 1 night. Would look elsewhere if considering an extended visit to the area.

“Great Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2008

We always try to stay at Country Inn and Suites. You know what to expect and we never seem to be disappointed.

The Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Lansing was great. Just a little way off the interstate - but not too bad. The only downside is that there isn't much around the hotel. We had to drive a bit to get to a place to eat - but that certainly isn't the hotels fault. There is a gas station near by so that was nice.

Check in was quick and easy. The staff were very polite and friendly.

The room was clean, as was the bathroom. Lots of little extra toiletries - including make-up remover.

The pool is great as well. It is also clean. It is a good size and great for kids.

Overall, this is a great hotel. We would stay there again without a doubt.
