“Beats downtown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2011

Typically when we have a convention in town we stay at the connected hotel but this year we thought we'd try a few miles away and we were very happy with our choice. From the downtown convention center it's just a few exits down (hotel is exit 1, convention center exit 5) which just took minutes and we found little to no traffic so it worked out well. Country Inn was a lot cheaper, you got free breakfast, larger room with refrigerator and microwave and free non-valet parking. To us it was worth the short drive.

Just a couple small things kept me from rating this trip a 5. The biggest one for me was water pressure and shower head. It was okay, adequate I guess but could have been better. Second issue which the hotel can probably only control somewhat was noisy people in the hall about 1:30 a.m., I can tell you they were in room 319 because they were shouting it down the hall. And a small issue but if things that clash drive you crazy the topper on the window and wall paper boarder might drive you crazy. I only mention it because it was a pretty bad mis/match.

But those things aside it was a great stay. We had a King suite which was large with a roomy feel. We did use the refrigerator and microwave which worked out great to have meals in the room. The first night of our two night stay the hot tub in the pool area was not "hot", just barely warm but the second night it was REALLY hot so there was a bit of inconsistency there but my husband enjoyed it both nights anyway.

I would stay there again.

“Always count on Country Inn & Suites to be a great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2011

My husband and I spent two nights at this hotel and once again were pleased that we chose a Country Inn & Suites hotel. We have never been disappointed by our stays at Country Inns and the hotel in Lansing lived up to our expectations. Clean, comfortable and welcoming with a great, friendly staff; nice breakfast selection, comfortable room and bed (we loved the jacuzzi suite!) - all a great value at an excellent price.

“Disappointing”

Staff is very nice, but when we turned down the comforter, we found a newspaper from another state lying within the sheets. Clearly the bed had never been remade after the previous guest. There were also two metal bars sticking out of the bed that would have bruised someone badly. We covered them with towels and called the front desk. Someone came and remade the beds, but at that point you feel like the place just cant be clean. Afraid to sleep with the blankets, we turned off the air conditioning and slept with only a sheet. I sweated all night. When I checked out and told them what happened they took $20 off the bill. That wasnt enough to make me happy. It still cost me $112, The breakfast was great and the staff was nice enough, but I felt like they should have taken more off the bill. I would never stay there again or recommend it to anyone.

“Very Nice....would stay again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2010

This is a very nice hotel for the money. I paid $92 for 5 people. The rooms are large, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is wonderful. Like a buffet. Very nice dining area. My only complaint was the indoor pool. It was dimly lit and not heated. It was too cold for my small grandchildren to go into. The hot tub was nice. There were very loud teenagers that no one seemed to bother with, but you could not hear them in your room. Overall, it is a great hotel.

“Good for this price point”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

Getting a cab from the Lansing airport to this hotel was no easy feat -- most of the cabbies I asked didn't want to take a solo traveler to this location and instead sought groups of passengers heading toward the university. (By the way, how is it cabbies are allowed to do this in Lansing?!) But, once I arrived, the location was convenient for me as I had a meeting at a nearby business. I arrived late at night, but the staff was friendly and check-in was fast, which was much appreciated. As is typical for this range of hotels, the room beddings were thin and scratchy, and the furnishings were somwhat cheap-looking. The mattress was rather hard. The blanket on the bed was very thin, and no extra blankets were provided in the room. As a solo female traveler, I'd have preferred not to be on the ground floor, but nothing else was available by the time I checked in. If I return, I'll ask for 2nd floor when I make my reservation.

On a more positive note, everything was in clean and in good condition. Overall, the accomodations were on par with what one should reasonably expect from this mid-level price point and class of hotel. The food and soda vending machines were reasonably priced and well stocked. The wi-fi was convenient. There was a complimentary breakfast that wasn't especially extensive but sufficient. I would stay there again, but I'd rent a car rather than depending on cabs.
