We stayed at this Inn back in June, and it was our first time. We had our 6 year old and 1 year daughters in tow. At first, we were taken aback by the primitiveness of the place/room. Our room consisted of a bed, chair, and a small dresser, all of which seemed to have been in the room since the 1950s. The wood floor looked filthy, but upon further inspection, it was just the wear and tear that made it look like it did. After bringing in our things and making ourselves at home, we felt very comfortable there. The beach is across the street, but down about 100 stairs (no exaggeration); if you are elderly or are carting around small children (and their gazillion beach toys) just know that it might be challenging. (During the summer, the beach is not visible from the inn nor can you hear the waves as we had thought. However, this was not a negative of the place, it was just something we had hoped for.) The beach was clean and was fairly secluded. Our daughters made friends with another family who was staying at the Inn, and we adults got to sit and relax for a few minutes while the kids entertained themselves. We ate breakfast in the restaurant, and it was good; the staff in the restaurant was friendly. However, the staff left 45 minutes before they were to stop serving and some of the Inn's guests could not eat there; that did not happen to us, however. Also, as some previous reviews mentioned, the porch is delightful! I swang our 1 year old to sleep that night in the porch swing as our 6 year ran around catching fireflies. The no-TV, no cell phone reception, no techology part of the stay was a welcome respite from being constantly plugged in as we are normally. (For those who need to be "plugged in" for various reasons, the wi-fi works best in the lobby, and was hit or miss in our room--#8.) We did think that the price was a little steep for what you get, but looking at other similar places on Lake MI, it was probably the most inexpensive. We are not "high needs" people, and have traveled extensively and have stayed in all types of lodging, and we would go back to this Inn. We actually thought about adding an extra night to this trip so that we could stay longer at the Inn.
