It's a solid 4, but given the competition in Kalamazoo, I'm bumping it up to a 5. It's in good shape with spacious rooms, nice amenities, and good service. Rates are reasonable considering what you get.
While the finishes in the rooms are standard for a decent business hotel, they offer plenty of space to spread out - in some rooms the bathroom almost felt too big. The jacuzzi rooms were especially fun although it's a bit disconcerting having a hot tub in the middle of your bed room. That said, it was nice to be able to watch TV while soaking in a hot bath.
The gym was nicely appointed with several cardio options, dumbbells, barbell (a pleasant surprise for a hotel gym), and a circuit of nautilus machines. There's also a very nice indoor pool with a good-looking water feature. Access to the gym used to be complimentary with a stay. I think they might have started charging toward the end of my time there - that would certainly be disappointing.
There's a coffee shop, a couple of gift shops, and two restaurants on the property. Zazios is higher-end Italian, and Old Burdick is a more of a bar with lots of seating and TVs.
Service was consistently good. When things would go wrong (as they invariably will during extended stays) hotel management did a good job of resolving problems quickly and to my satisfaction.
The location in downtown Kalamazoo puts it in convenient walking distance from lots of dining and shopping options.
Room Tip: Jacuzzi rooms are fun if you don't mind having a hot tub in the middle of your bedroom.
