We were pretty hesitant staying at a hotel in a random Michigan town but were pleasantly surprised by the newness of the Holiday Inn. It smelled funny all over the hotel, like a mix of old cleaning rags and bleach, but the hotel was clean and new. We were given a single queen bed when we had requested two beds and had this clearly marked on our reservation. The front desk was beyond unhelpful -- the girl who answered the phone was rude to me, stated the computer told her to give me that room, there were no other rooms available, and she'd bring me a cot. Not an appropriate response. I didn't even get an apology but instead was blamed for it with a snarky "well, you booked online". When we checked in, no one even so much as smiled at us. It was awkward and unpleasant. I was really mad and for this lack of customer service alone I wouldn't return.
That said, however, the place was clean and comfortable, the bar was enjoyable and had great pizza, the bath products are high quality and I hear the bed was comfortable enough (I slept on the couch). So if you're heading to Jackson and don't mind being treated rudely, it is a fine experience.
