“Great family ski resort - cold swimming pool & very hot hot tub”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2011

We stayed in a slope side condo. These condos are very nice. Bed & pillows were very comfy. It was nice to walk out of the room and ski over to a chairlift. This is a really nice ski resort to bring the family to. Nice slopes for every skill level. Friendly staff from the guy helping you on a chair lift, to the rental area, the restaurants, to the ski shop.

Just one disappointment. Just like the last time we were there. The pool was way too cold. The hot tub, was way too hot. When I alerted the front desk staff, I could tell they got numerous complaints on this one. I stay at a lot of hotels and am tolerant of a pool or hot tub not having perfect temperatures. This was a bit ridiculous. If I would have known this ahead of time I would of got a room somewhere else in Iron Mountain.

If only they could finally get the temperatures of the pool & hot tub into a reasonable range, this will become a really great place to stay.

If you want a good place to ski and are not concerned about swimming, this is a great place to stay. If you want to swim & relax in a hot tub after skiing, you may want to look up a different hotel in Iron Mountain. This is the 2nd time I was there where the pool was very cold and the hot tub way too hot.

“Nice place to stay when you are going skiing”

We stayed at this hotel for our ski trip. Since the hotel is right there, that is why we booked a room there. The rooms were rustic, but it worked well for us as we were there for skiing. It was great to go to our room when we were taking a break from skiing. Our room overlooked the slopes, that was nice. They have the smallest elevator I've ever seen at a hotel, but it did the trick. The skiing is great! It is a very nice place to take the family for skiing. They have a variety of slopes. Plenty of slopes for the beginner & intermediate skier. There is some steeper slopes for the more advanced skier. There is also some terrain parks for the snowboarders. Rental area and ski shop was very nice. Its just a short walk out the back door to get to one of the chair lifts.

Every staff member I encountered was very friendly and helpful. The pool area was a pleasant surprise. I'm surprised they don't have pictures of it on their website. They have a nice size pool, sauna, and a nice hot tub. Only problem, the hot tub was way too hot! It was so hot, you could cook food in it. If you sat in there too long, you'd be cooked too! They need to bring that temp down a bit!

Again, the rooms were a bit rustic. But, we were there for skiing, the rustic room didn't matter so much to us, we were happy to have somewhere clean & comfortable to sleep. It did look like something from the 70s/80s, but it was clean. We had clean comfortable beds to sleep in, and got to hit the slopes early in the morning.

They do have a continental breakfast in the morning. It was coffee, juices, rolls, cereal, and hard boiled eggs. They also offered a made to order breakfast. The restuarants and bars looked ok. We didn't eat there, we drove to the main drag in town. It only took 5 minutes to get to the main drag that had all kinds of fast food and other restaurants.

“Great family getaway good food, friendly staff well groomed slopes”

Stayed with teenage son and daughter in the condos on site over the Martin Luther King weekend. Clean nicely decorated spacious accommodation and the staff were very friendly and helpful , both on slopes and in lodge. Food in Famer's restaurant was tasty and reasonably priced. Perfect (Midwest) ski conditions-- not crowded, and well groomed slopes. Pine cone cafe at top of slopes was perfect for mid afternoon break

“Enjoyed our stay, but have to agree with some of the negative reviews”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2010

My family stayed three nights in a room with a queen bed and bunkbeds. Our stay was generally pleasant. The front desk staff were friendly but frazzled. The facility was in need of many updates, as mentioned by previous reviewers. Our room had no refrigerator, no microwave, and a horrible bathroom (the shower had only two temperatures -- freezing cold and scalding hot, which it alternated between at intervals of about 30 seconds). We room rate was quite high, so I had expected better. Famers Restaurant, which is in the hotel, has good food at reasonable prices but some of the slowest (sometimes non-existant) service I've ever seen. Overall we enjoyed our vacation at Pine Mountain, but the drawbacks will probably cause us to look elsewhere for our next ski vacation.

“Avoid at all costs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2009

Let's start with the nice stuff: At least they gave me $20 off. This "resort" features a smoke-filled restaurant and a bathroom with someone else's hair plastered all over the shower stall. I booked it off the web site as I thought it was a good price for a "resort." This is definitely a case of you get what you pay for.
