We were in Iron Mountain for a stay and play vacation. This is the hotel associated with Timberstone Golf Course. It looks like a typical lodge from the outside, older but well maintained. The lobby with fireplace is nice. The elevator is teeny tiny, but it worked well. The hallways were strange, very reminiscent of my college dorm hallways. The room was a nice surprise after the halls. All of the furniture is brand new. The room is large enough with a nice desk area. The walls were all the old fashioned stucco on walls and ceiling. It was nicely painted, but I just don't care for stucco. The largest disappointment was the bathroom. It was so small they had put a stopper on the floor to prevent the door from opening the entire way. Without this stopper the door would slam into the toilet. Fortunately, the lavatory was outside the bathroom. The tub had been painted poorly sometime. The original gold color was showing through where the new finish was peeling off. They need to just break out the tub and reconfigure the space with a tiled shower. Everything was extremely clean and well maintained. We had dinner at the on site restaurant which was fine. The continental breakfast was the usual and served in the restuarant which was nice and roomy. Check in and out were easy. All of the staff we encountered were professional and friendly. Would we return? You betcha. I would have given 5 stars except for the tiny old bathroom and the dated stucco walls throughout the rooms and halls. If you are a golfer, don't miss a chance to play Timberstone. Wow!
