I was very pleased with our stay at the Comfort Inn at 200 Cloverleaf Lane in Houghton Lake.
My father and I traveled to the area to settle my Uncle's estate. Unfortunately the house he owned up there now half-belongs to his ex-wife so we needed a place to stay. After driving around and looking we ended up stumbling across the Comfort Inn and decided to stay.
My father's a senior citizen but forgot his AARP card, the lady at the front desk was so nice about it that she just gave my father the discount anyway. She also gave us a first floor room because he has some trouble walking. Not only that, but we had to make a second trip up there and she gave us the same discount rate that she did the first time no questions asked!
The pool was very clean and was fun to swim around in, at the time of our first trip the Jacuzzi was broken, but by our second trip up (two weeks later) it seemed to be working again (I didn't get in that time but I saw people in it and the bubbles were going.)
Over all I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend. Make sure that you ask for a non-smoking room that was non-smoking to begin with though, as some of the non-smoking rooms that were changed over still have a faint smoky scent.
