You can't beat it for VanAndel. The skywalk is easy. Worth the extra $ to be able to walk right over/back. As far as the hotel goes it's a pretty decent place. The walk from the parking garage ($10) is not much worse than a walk from a normal hotel parking lot. Plus it's under roof. The pool is on the smaller side and the hot tub is very small. Inside the locker room (men's) there is a steam room. Did not use the gym but it looked pretty spacious and had some good variety. We came down for breakfast and expected a sit down restaurant but it was a Starbuck's style deli counter. They did serve food made to order so we went for it. Food turned out to be very good. I'd eat there again. Negatives would be price, room size was small, "full" size beds too small for 2 adults.

Spent New Years eve in downtown Grand Rapids, MI at the Courtyard Marriott. I have to say the location was perfect and when you check in you get a wrist band that gets you into the parties at the Amway Grand Plaza and JW Marriott. This is a real plus as each ball room had a different type of music, and cash bars. All can be reached via indoor walkway and when it is freezing outside, that is a huge. We had a suite and it overlooked the back of the hotel plaza, and the tennis courts/basketball court. (these would be great in the summer).
The hotel itself has been renovated, but some things are not changable. This includes the bathroom that was dimly lit and small. The furnishing are standard, nothing exceptional, but it was clean and neat. We would not stay again

Booked two rooms for us and another couple for New Years Eve with a party package. I was sorry that the parties were all cash bar and food. Would've been nice if the food had been included since finding a restaurant without crazy lines that night was impossible. The rooms were nicely decorated and spacious and included a mini fridge. Comfortable beds and friendly staff. Parking a was included in the package though, and that save $11; late check out was also included!

Place looks great when you check in. Hotel is an old building that has been remodeled fairly well.

Unfortunately I had an adjoining room - which I requested not to have. Smoking going on in the facility somewhere, can smell it as I type.

Room smelled of old lady perfume, bed hard, and bumpy. Pillows ridiculous. Heating cooling system is loud, and does not keep temp where I would like it.

Near elevator, which is loud.

Room service food was poor quality, ordered medium steak - got rare. Rest of food was not very good.

Internet absolutely awful. It should not be called internet, it should be called fakenet. Had to pull out the old MIFI 4G for this place.

Room very expensive for the quality. I think 159.00 per night. Probably comparable to a 85.00 a night hotel.

Sorry Marriot, hate to say it, but "step up your game in Grand Rapids".
