“Overpriced, under cleaned and hardly handicapped accessible”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2009

I stayed at this property during the 2nd week of July. I was traveling with my handicapped Grandmother, teenaged daughter and toddler. First and formost, this hotel is far from handicapped accesible, in my opinion. I was told upon booking the room that the only handicapped accessible room is a king room. Well, obviously with four guests, a king bed would not work, so we went with a double, and hoped for the best. Wrong choice. The rooms are so small, and the bathroom so tiny that my Grandmother was unable to use her very compact walker in the room, and could not even utilize the bathroom in this room without assistance. There is only one ramp to the hotel, which is located at the front of the building. Our enterance was in the back, with no available ramp. That being said, upon check in, we entered as mentioned, a very small room that was far from fresh. The bathroom door mirror was fithly, as was the bathtub. The furniture was straight out of the eighties, and probably the bedding as well. The bedspreads were dirty with mystery spots, so we removed them. I would not even consider putting anything in the mini fridge or microwave for that matter. All through the night we heard very loud banging, so we kept the a/c on high to block out the noise. I have stayed at many choice hotel brands, and have never been dissapointed, until now. I did mention my dissapointment with the night attendant, and his excuse was that they had a new cleaning staff. End of story. He did not even offer so much as a 5% discount for our trouble. A double bed room at this hotel cost us WITH a senior discount, plus tax $82.00!!! I have stayed at far better for less, within the Choice Hotel group, which owns Quality Inn.
If we had gotten into town earlier in the day, I would have changed hotels, but it was late and we were exhausted.
As menioned in a previous post, there is a Baymont hotel directly behind this property, my advice to you is to spend a few extra dollars for a good nights sleep and a clean room.

“Worn and smelly.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2009

The Baymont was right next door, but I opted for the QI because I thought it would be a better value. Everything looks and smells old. Maybe I'm getting spoiled with nicer motels, but I was disappointed. The one saving grace was that Bob Evans (200 feet away) delivered for free.

“A great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2008

I stayed here when fishing the Grand River. The room had a balcony over the pool area ,its own kitchen, bathroom and a jacuzzi .It was spacious and clean and very good value for money.Although I only used it as a place to crash after a days fishing,it was Ideal for longer stays.

“worst hotel ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2007

this hotel was horrible! the halls were so hot it was like being in a steam room. Once we got into our room our room was at least 85 degrees. The AC was broke. We called front desk to complain and they told us they had no other rooms the only thing they could do for us is give us a fan! They offerend no discount when asked to speak to the manager they said they were out of town. Not only did we have issues with the room. But people were also very loud in the hallways and let of two smokebombs at the end of each hallway.

“Not the Ritz, but A Great Place to Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2005

We stayed here 2 nights while in town for a funeral. Not many hotels located in the area, and since we werent there for pleasure, just needed something basic and inexpensive, but nice. Amerihost fit the bill. Rooms were fine and clean (except for the ceiling which had ketchup ?? stains on it). Not much in the way of food in the area. There was a McDonalds, which closed at 11 and a Bob Evans that closed early, but there is a pizza place that delivers until 3:30am and the food was good. Best part of this hotel was the service, they were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. For the first time ever, and I travel alot, the front desk called the room about 15 minutes after checkin to make sure we were getting settled okay, if we needed anything -- something you would expect from an upscale property, not a budget one. Only criticism is that the pool and hot tub area closed at 10pm, which seems a little early so we werent able to enjoy it, but it looked nice. I would highly recommend this hotel for those on a budget, but not looking for the Motel 6......
