I stayed here in late August 2011 on a Sun, Mon, Tues night. I booked my room through Hotwire.com and got the room for $45/night plus taxes & fees. My 3 nights came to $166 and some change with the taxes & fees. Hot wire listed it as a 2 1/2 star.
I was happy. The only complaint I would have had was the fact that the room was a little dated, particularly the TV. It still had the video game controller where you could rent Nintendo 64 games for $6.95/hr (please, even Wii isn't worth $7 hour charge!). This tells me it is from the 90s. Oh well, this is not even really a complaint, just something I thought I'd mention. I suppose if they put 32"+ LCD TVs in the rooms, the price would be an instant $30/night higher, so I'll take the cheaper rate!
The room was very clean, and the bed was incredibly comfy. Very nice high quality sheets and pillows, the type that really make you hate your alarm clock. I thought the mattress was great for what I like in a bed- not too soft, not too stiff, bouncy or otherwise cheap feeling. The room has the sink and vanity outside the bathroom, in the little "hallway" between the door and the room. This leaves the bathroom a bit small but functional. The shower had a massage head, but the flow was a little lighter than what I'm used to. No biggy, got the job done.
Amenities in room: fridge (check); microwave (check); ironing board (check); coffee pot (check); blow dryer (check). All the "little things" that make a hotel room much more comfortable and realistic to stay in. Oh and an AC/heater/fan unit that has some white noise value to help you sleep (check). The alarm clock was rather chinsey, but worked. At least the alarm was loud enough to wake me!
The desk clerk was a younger gal, I'd guess 20s. Very polite, very professional, (and cute!) Didn't get her name.
I cannot comment on the breakfast, I had to leave about 5:45 am, and it started at 6am. Bummer. I love breakfast. Also cannot comment on the pool, exercise room, or managements' handling of complaints- as I had no need to use any of them.
If I could get this room at $45 (or less) every time I was in town, I would. Aside from a few carpet stains in the hallways, it was clean, smelled as clean as a hotel can, and had all the creature comforts that allow you to be comfortable.
