“Overall experience was good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

Stayed for 5 nights on business trip to Grand Rapids. The location was convenient to a variety of restaurants and shopping. The staff were very friendly. The hotel was nicely decorated, although I did not have time to enjoy the pool and whirlpool. The breakfast was ok.. I would have liked to have had regular Cheerios, but it was also convenient for my "I'm on the run" mornings where I just did a grab and go. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was clean, with good water pressure. Stay on the top floor. i was on the 2nd floor and felt like there were elephants walking around upstairs each night. Disappointed in the towels. They were adequate - but one day I picked a towel that was literally in shreds. The 2nd towel I picked up had a hole in it. The 3rd towel was ok. I would have liked a coffee table in front of couch in sitting area.

Room Tip: Stay on the top floor. Less floor noise from above.

“Great staff and great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

On business for three weeks and Country Inn was a great place in a great location. I was able to walk to meetings, Meijer, and Branns Steakhouse. They also have a great running trail behind their property. My room was always ready early and they allowed me to change my reservations when I had to leave a day early. Breakfast was always stocked and ready with plenty of newspapers to read. Front desk staff always had answer for my questions about what to do in the area, along with fresh cookies.

Great place for the price and I would look at Country Inn sometime in the future for personal travel.

“I was sorely disappointed in my ten day stay”

My stay at the Grand Rapids Country Inns and Suite on 28th street was my first at this property and brand, and definitely my last at any Country Inns and suites. I thought the Carlson property would be much better than this.
The breakfast was okay but the quality of the food was disappointing. The food at the so called evening reception was nothing like that offered at a Homewood Suites or a Staybridge Suites. I had reservations at these other two properties because of the lack of availability of the first weekend of my stay. Tara, the manager worked with me to get ten consecutive nights , and I cancelled my other reservations. In hindsight, I wish I had decided to drive two extra miles, and stayed elsewhere.
From poor customer service and privacy issues, to the cheapness of the amenities, my stay left a bad taste in my mouth.
Anyone who is considering a stay here can contact me privately for a more detailed description of my stay, which I have already sent to both local and corporate management.

“Friendly, Clean and Extra Touches”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

Stayed here during Art Pride with 2 friends in a 2-room king suite. Comfortable bed and sofa sleeper, very good breakfast and free evening meals of barbeque chicken sandwiches one night and meatloaf and mashed potatoes the second night. Free coffee and delicious cookies were always available in the lobby. Additionally, they had a little lending library that offered books that could be returned to any Country Inn, and a lovely front porch with patio furniture, which we enjoyed for an entire evening. The area is quiet, even though the hotel is next to a Meijer's store and close to shopping and only 5 miles out of downtown Grand Rapids. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and we will surely stay here again.

Room Tip: King suite is a good value for $10 additional.

“Roomy and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

I stayed at this hotel while visiting friends in Grand Rapids. The only real problem I had was in actually finding the place! My navigation system said I had arrived at my destination but there was nothing in sight. Several more passes yielded the same result. Finally I spotted the hotel in a Meijer's parking lot pretty well masked from the road. They do need better signage!

The front desk staff was polite and explained what the hotel had to offer. I suggested they put up a bigger sign and they smiled and said they've been told that before.

I rented a king suite because I like the extra room and was not disappointed. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean and fresh and quiet that evening. The breakfast was adequate and actually a little better than the continental fare you get at most places. I would certainly stay here again as the room prices are quite reasonable.
