“Great B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

We loved staying at Peaches and when we return to Grand Rapids, will definitely try to stay there again. The home is beautiful and in a great area of town within walking distance of many great restaurants downtown. We enjoyed just walking around the neighborhood. Our host was very welcoming and recommended a great restaurant for us that evening. We felt very much at "home" at Peaches. The breakfast was delicious, too. This is a great place to stay!

“Great Place, Great Service, Super Cute and Fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Anyone who's complaining about the antique features and the outdated amenities didn't read the description when they booked their stay. This is the cutest old house and the host was super accommodating. I stayed at Peaches to avoid having to stay at a chain hotel and was extremely pleased with my stay. The pancakes with nuts in the morning were amazing and I'd definitely stay there again!

“The best B&B i have been in”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

I have stayed at Peaches several times. This time was for business, I had to leave early and Jane made me a custom early breakfast before the other guests were even up. The coffee is great - no need to give Starbucks my $5 this morning!
I love that the beds are soft and sheets are thick cotton and outdoor line dried, I can tell the difference! Towels are soft and fluffy too. I love the historic furnishings. Walk around the neighborhood to see great historic G.R.
The supper dogs make me feel at home, they, bark but that is what dogs do, and these don't without reason, and not at night. I have stayed before with my 4 year old daughter and trust the dogs totally.

“Save your cash , no art prize”

We stayed here as part of art prize, it was a total waste of money! Sure it is local but the entire thing was
horrendous
Bed was small, I am 6 foot, and the bathroom was like an unwelcome
Trip to the past. Breakfast was disappointing and underwhelming at best.
Checked out early, as soon as possible!

We’re really sorry you had a bad experience in Grand Rapids. ArtPrize only runs through the first week in October, so perhaps it was disappointing that most of the art was already taken down by November when you stayed.
All our rooms have a queen bed & it does say on our website that we have original bathrooms (1916). We try to keep them very clean & in excellent working condition, & we aren’t aware of what problem you experienced. We appreciate feedback so we can keep our facilities functioning in perfect order.
We’re also sorry you didn’t like breakfast. It seems we’re unable to please everyone all the time, but we’d have welcomed the chance to make it better when you were here.

“A horrible B&B experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2011

We went to Peaches at 4:30 in the afternoon to check in, as I had been previously advised that we couldn't check in until after 4. We rang the doorbell which caused their two dogs to bark loudly. When no one answered the door, we knocked several times, then opened the door and shouted "Hello" repeatedly. After several minutes, the woman who owns the B&B finally appeared. She stated that "the doorbell must not work", and went outside to test it. It worked fine (and even if it didn't, the knocking, dogs barking, and repeated hellos should have gotten her attention). She never introduced herself, or offered to show us the common areas of the house supposedly available for our use. Instead, she took us straight to our room. The room appeared fine at first glance, then she showed us the bathroom. She said the tile had recently been replaced, and we needed to keep the shower curtain closed tightly because the grout had yet to be sealed. In addition, she stated that the floor of the tub would feel gritty, but that is just from the work recently completed. As we left the bathroom, we noticed some white dusty footprints on the wood floor of our room. The owner never offered to clean the footprints and never apologized (this would become a trend), and simply stated that "I thought my husband had cleaned that up". I asked about breakfast the next morning, and she said it would be at 9:30, and reminded us that checkout was at 10 a.m. She stated that she did not know what we'd have for breakfast, as she "couldn't use the oven in this heat". We asked about getting a cab to go to dinner at 7:30, and she stated she would call for one to arrive at 7:15 to 7:30, as the restaurant was only about 5-10 minutes away. We settled into our room, and my wife wanted some ice water. I went downstairs to find the owner, who said the ice maker was broken. Next, it occured to me that we had no key to either our room or the house itself. I went to ask the owner, who had no keys for us; she simply said that she would not lock the main door to the place until all the guests arrived back for the night. I decided to take a shower and get ready to go to dinner. I looked around for a towel, and there were none in the room. Again, I went downstairs to find the owner. I told her my problem, and she said something like "I guess that room wasn't really ready for guests". I followed her to the laundry area where she gave me some towels - again with no real apology for the problem. I took off my clothes, walked across the dirty bathroom floor, and stepped into the shower (yes, it was gritty as she indicated). I tried to turn on the water, but with no success. I put my clothes back on, and once more went to find the owner. I told her there was no water in the shower, and she led me back upstairs. She found the cut-offs and turned the water on to the shower, but again did not apologize, let alone offer to do something to make up for all our problems. As we were getting ready for dinner, we got a call at 6:50 that our cab had arrived (30 minutes early). The next morning, at breakfast, we had peaches in a little cereal cup. OK so far. Then, the entree for our "gourmet" breakfast arrived. It was scrambled eggs wrapped in a flour tortilla, and covered with a little gravy that included some pieces of hot sausage. Three of the guests, including my wife, ate only a couple of bites. When we checked out, I expected an offer to adjust the bill due to all the problems, or at least a sincere apology. There was nothing. Obviously, we will not be going back.
