“Ok for a night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2011 via mobile

Read some of the other reviews but we were on the road and called about a hour before we arrived.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel decor is a bit dated. But we were looking for clean and comfortable. Our room was just that. We did have a strange noise in the wall??? But since we were Not looking for fancy but adequate it was fine. I'm staying there again on 13 August and will post an update.
I'm not in a position to question the staff but

“A good place to stay at a good price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

From earlier reviews I was worried about this hotel but I was assured by hotel staff that this hotel is being updated and renovated. I stayed in a room which had been redone and my stay was comfortable and pleasant. The room was clean and did not smell of stale cigarette smoke. I looked carefully but did not find any Insects or bugs. The bathroom was clean and there was no mold in the tub/shower area. The air conditioner was quiet. Apparently some rooms still need to be redone and may have a leftover smoke issue. I heard this topic mentioned by the desk clerk to someone on the phone. He said that although the rooms are non-smoking, some still have smoke smells. It is nice that they are honest. Although located near the expressway, there was no loud road noise. The large indoor pool seems to have once been outdoors and was later enclosed and made usable year around. It is accessible from indoor hallways. Breakfast is served in an adjacent dining room/bar which appears to be independent of the hotel. Hotel guests are given vouchers for breakfast and allowed to pass through the buffet line one time filling one large plate. There was a good variety of food available. Coffee or juice is served by a waitress. Coffee, tea, and cocoa are also available for free from a machine in the lobby. The business area was somewhat lacking. There is a computer with fast internet located in a corner of the lobby near the reception desk. There is not a big work area. Overall, I would stay there again. It is a good value.

“Adequate but tired”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

This hotel is in need of some serious updating. The room was clean but the common areas were not that well maintained. This hotel has a great location for getting to the Mackinac Bridge area. The room is a good value in comparison to rooms in the Mackinac area. Our room was suppose to be a non-smoking room, but it certainly smelled like somebody had smoked in it. Also, this hotel allows pets.

“Nice hotel conveniently located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

We thought we'd never find a place to stay coming from the Bridge at Mackinaw. We were fortunate to select this Quality Inn. The desk clerk directed us to a Brew Pub where we had an excellent dinner.

“what a dump”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

I would not rate this as a 2 star, i would think of it as a 1, and that is being nice. The room was disgusting, the carpet smelled of urine with a large stain in the carpet greeting us at the door. around the room there was areas where the carpet was frayed and missing carpet fibers. The bathroom sink was cracked and heavily stained, and the tub was rusted all around the drain. the beds where very small and did seem like they had been cleaned. Outside the building was filthy, near the one exit it was covered in towel bits from the exhaust of their rundown laundry, also the stucko around the building was falling off. to sum it up I will never stay at this place again and would recommend elsewhere. the next night we stayed in the bayview instead, it was the same money and wow was it a far superior hotel. I will be writing a review of this hotel as well because of the service and quality of the hotel. STAY AWAY from this run down dingy hotel.

Room Tip: go elsewhere
