This resort knows how to host a convention! This is the second time I've attended one of their scrapbooking weekends and both have been over the top! Staff is very attentive to detail for the conventions.
Rooms are not connected to the main building, so you either have to walk a short way or drive over. This is an older resort and could use some updating, but rooms are sufficient and have everything you need. We don't spend much time in the room on these weekends, so just having a shower & bed would have met our needs!
However, the housekeeping in the room needs more attention. The shower was not as clean as we would have liked. We found a cap from the shampoo bottle of the previous guest in the shower. Made me wonder what else might have been left behind. There was bobbie pins on the floor, between the two beds, suggesting it was not vacumed throroughly, and I found hairs by the coffee station in the room. Yuk!!!! When I pointed out the issues at the front desk, they immediately had the head of housekeeping come and speak with me. I thought that was great, until she said to me "That isn't possible; I cleaned the room myself". What???? She obviously needs a refresher course in customer relations! On the last day there, we discovered that the blow dryer didn't work either, but if that had not previously been reported, there is no way they would have known that.
Food over the whole weekend was very good. Chef Jessica really knows how to prepare a good and varied menu, from breakfast to midnight snacks. She prepares an awesome salad bar spread that is rivaled by none!
The views at this resort are very nice, as the rooms looked over the valley of the ski slopes. I am not much of a skier or golfer, so I really wouldn't consider this a destination resort. While I will return to this property, it is for the quality of the convention and not the comfort of the rooms.
It was nice to see they have continued to improve the courses and clubhouse.
We stayed here one night on the way to the Upper Peninsula. We have a 2-year-old and a baby, and our King Suite unit was the PERFECT set-up for all of us. The living room had a very comfortable Murphy Bed that our older child slept in, and we were able to set up the Pack-n-Play (provided by the resort, although no sheets came with it; we had our own, fortunately) in the kitchenette area. We arrived in the evening and decided to order carry-out from the resort restaurant, and all the food was excellent! We also ordered a bottle of wine. The next day, we were able to see how truly lovely the grounds are--it's in a very scenic location. We hope to stay there again for a longer visit someday!
Super nice rooms and lots to do! Staff was amazing, especially Kathy at the front desk!
