After driving 8 hours from Oxford, (home to Miami University of Ohio) Ohio, we arrived at the hotel around 2:30am. The night auditor greeted us very warmly and had our room key ready! She explained that there was a continental breakfest in the morning, much to our surprise. This consisted of stale blueberry and banana nut muffins, along with disc like bagels that had to be sliced on some contraption waiting for eager fingers. Toaster and microwave available...Coffee and Juice machines were great!

We met family the next day at 11:00am in Mackinaw City, MI. After a long day of sightseeing and visiting, we headed back to our Red Roof Inns and Suites; we arrived there around 9:00pm.

The second night was tragic! When we arrived the restaurant/brewery next to the hotel had set up a large tent for outdoor cooking and music. Little did we know that a live rock band would be performing until midnight (learned by calling the front desk for more information about the noise and then being talked to like a door mat for asking!). Their speakers were set to LOUD! We were told that nothing could be done (the hotel was full).

Since the Olympics had ended a week before, we did not know that the US gymnastics team would be staying in the room above us and practicing for next year's events from 9:15pm to 11:00pm. They began again at 8:00am the next morning...it sound as though they were throwing each other against the wall.

Sunday's checkout greeted us with a rude front desk clerk who did not even bother asking us about our stay. I don't believe that "Thank you" was in her vocabulary.

In retrospect, the rooms were very nice and clean (for $85.00 a night who would expect less. FYI: If you want your sheets changed when staying longer than one night, be sure to place the card on the pilow so the housekeeping staff will do so). The television reception was lame for CBS and NBC (you receive about 10 channels).

Be sure to ask about the live band next door before you book your stay. I cannot imagine this happening in the winter months, but who knows...the hotel staff did not want to answer any questions.
