We flew from Orlando to Flint and needed a hotel to stay at before driving to Mackinac Island and I must say this was the best!!!! The staff was so friendly and couldn't do enough to make us happy. When we first arrived, they were remodeling the front desk and I thought this was going to be a disaster, but they couldn't be more accomendating about this. Because of how nice the girls at the front desk were, I could care less about the constructioon. We used the shuttle from the airport to the hotel and it was fast and the driver was very friendly. Because of the excellent service, we stayed here for our return trip, again everything was perfect.

This property is located w/several other hotels and has a convenient shuttle service from the airport in Flint with personable drivers. Desk clerks were friendly and efficient. The indoor pool & hot tub were well-maintained and coffee and fruit were available all day in the lobby. Fitness room had a treadmill with no working tv and one with a tv that worked but the treadmill did not. Room was okay and functional (carpet has a terrible plastic feel-- bring flip-flops or slippers); the bed was comfortable. Housekeeping did a good job each day but maintenance never got my air conditioner to produce cold air (the hallways were 15 degrees colder so I know there was working air conditioning elsewhere). Food choices are limited without a car but there is a steak place in walking distance and the hotel had a few snacks for sale in the lobby (also being renovated). Once the construction is finished this will be a good property-- lots of positives and a few inconveniences.

The A/C was not working correctly. The staff challenged me on whether or not my reservation included breakfast when I had proof that it did. Room was not ready when I arrived.

Room was clean and quiet.

I actually stayed at this property twice in 30 days. The first visit, I checked in after 7pm and they did not have any rooms with king size beds left. I goodnaturedly commented that I rarely ever travel without my children and that I had been looking forward to a big bed all alone. A private conference between the front desk clerk and the manager resulted in me being given the choice of a suite or a jacuzzi room..both with King beds. I chose the jacuzzi room and it was very nice. Clean, spacious, with a frig. Breakfast was not included in my rate, and it is not cook to order on the weekends. However, the buffet includes scrambled eggs, sausage/bacon, gravy, biscuits, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, pastries/toast/muffins, oatmeal and/or Belgian waffles. Coffee and assorted juices. GOOD coffee, btw! I was charged different prices for both days I had the breakfast buffet, but since they were both less than the $8.99 posted, I let it ride.

The only down side was that my room was not cleaned the next day. It was probably because they upgraded me and it didn't make the maid's list...and it was not big deal to me. There were extra towels in the room (for the jacuzzi, I guess) so I was not inconvenienced. I'm sure if I had complained they would have gotten right on it.

Free high speed internet throughout the hotel is a definite plus!

I did stay there 4 weeks later, and I would recommend this hotel to others. As a single female, I felt safe in this hotel. I never saw transient vehicles in the parking lot, or people wandering around outside.
