“Scary location...wouldn't go in the building”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011

Don't do it. Pay more elsewhere or go farther away, but run screaming from this place. I pulled up to the hotel and knew it was time to cancel the reservation I'd made. The building doesn't even have a sign on it, let alone look welcoming. It's next to a crumbling facade of another hotel, and it's set far enough away from the road that no one would notice it (including the folks from Choice Hotels, apparently). I got the feeling that it just wasn't a safe place to stay. Don't waste your money!

“Bargain!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2008

This was a great deal for what I paid. The room was extremely clean and well maintained. It was very spacious with lots of floor space. The website mentions a microwave and refrigerator, although the fine print says that these are available in some rooms. Mine did not have these. However, the wireless internet worked fine. The King sized bed also came with a large comfy chair with footstool and desk area. The heater was warm, but a bit noisy. Also, the entrance was an internal hotel style. I did hear other guests in the hallway, but nothing out of the ordinary. Otherwise it was quiet.

The gentleman at the front desk each evening was very polite and friendly. I was impressed with the check in process. However, each morning, I found the front desk un-maned. In fact, on my final day as I was leaving, I found the front door locked (had to unlock it to get out and if I had not been in my room, there would have been no way to get back in prior to unlocking). I passed by the front desk and what looked like a break room/back room for the staff several times within a 15 minute period as I was packing my car. I never saw or heard anyone. I ended up leaving my key at the front desk, as there were no instructors in my room concerning check-out and none had been given to me when I originally checked-in. I didn't like the conclusion of doing business, especially considering that everything else was so positive.

Bristol Road is actually conveniently located between I-45 and I-475. There were several fast food places in this area (McDonald's, KFC, 24-hour Wendy's/Tim Horton's). I saw one dinner, but unsure of the quality. There were also several gas stations and a couple of drug stores. There was also a grocery store. The airport is almost next-door and past it there were also some businesses, but I did not explore these. It seemed like a nice part of town.

The breakfast was your choice of two types of cereal or doughnuts (I only saw a total of two of these, though.) There was also orange juice, milk, and coffee. Being that the front desk person was nowhere in sight, I worry how long the milk actual sat outside of a refrigerator. I did not eat anything.

It was challenging to find coming off of I-45, because the hotel was *RIGHT* there and the sign was actually attached to the Days Inn that was next door. (FYI, from the outside this also looked like a nice place.)

  • Liked — The Price (especially considering the price)
  • Disliked — The missing front desk attendant.

“Dirty and Bed Bugs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2008

Do not stay at this hotel. We went with another couple. They was on the 2nd floor, and we had a room on the 1st floor. We were woke up in the night with large bed bugs bitting us, and yes we seen them crawling in the bed. The room itself was dirty. We arrived late for a early morning flight so moving wasn't a option. When we told them at check out they could of cared less. We asked for a manager to talk to and still haven't heard from anyone. Sometimes saving a little bit of money just isn't worth it. The pick up at the airport was bad also. We had to keep calling before anyone would come. Then he told us that no one told him we called. He said he was just sitting around watching the game.

“got ripped off”

checked in at around 5pm on day of arrival and the outside temp was in the low 90's. asked for a first floor foom and one was not avaliable. paid for the room w/mastercard and then paid again for my dog (40$) ok that was a normal charge . When we got to ther room and opened the door it was oven like in the room if this was a reserved room the air should have been on. The next day a maintinance man came to check the filter on the air conditenor when no one called to complain about the air. phone calls were not answered when people called us and no messages were sent to the phone. The over all cleanness of the room was average for motels the base area around the room had not seen a cleaning since it was the hoilday inn. The breakfast was ok the first day but each day it went downhill climaxing on day of departure with nothing at the breakfast/also no paper on the week in i had to go to the days inn next door to check out. NOW FOR THE BIG ONE THEY MANUALLY ENTERED MY CREDIT CARD AND CHARGED ME FOR A XTRA DAY WHEN I DID NOT STAY THERE, AND REFUSE TO GIVE MY A REFUND AS OF THIS DATE

“My Worst Nightmare”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2007

people found this review helpful

The room was not very clean. When confirming reservations they said I had booked smoking when I had not, they said I booked for 1 night instead of 2. They straightend things out but it took awhile. My car was broken into at 10am in broad daylight with the cleaning staff walking about. Staff said if was the first time this had happened but when I looked in the phone book for auto glass repair some of the pages had been ripped out so obviouly others had experienced similar problems. They said there is a trailer park close by and they think that is where the thiefs live. I would never ever stay there again. It is definetly not a safe area. Next time I will go right into Flint for my next shopping trip and stay near the Genessee Valley Mall.
