“Clean, Comfortable ... but Costly.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Stayed 3 nights in late January 2012 for business.

Above Expectations:
(+) Location. (Close to everything at MSU; alternative to Kellogg Hotel)
(+) Room. (Ample space; very nice bathroom fixtures/decor)
(+) Food Service. (Tasty food from speedy, courteous staff)

Expected (for better or worse):
(^^) Parking. ($8 per night - not horrible, but...)
(^^) Internet. (Wi-Fi at $12+ per 24 hrs...in Michigan?)
(^^) Staff. (Generally courteous)
(^^) Gym. (Nice "travel size" facility)

Below Expectations:
(-) Room Amenities. (Small updates needed: room fixtures, tube tv, etc.)
(-) Affordability. (Room: $$$, Wi-Fi: $$, Parking: $$, Extras: $$)

“Good Location, OK hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

The room was well maintained and service was attentive. There are lots of restaurants nearby within walking distance which is great since the hotel restaurant was expensive and the little restaurant on the ground floor which was kind of like a breakfast/lunch service was absolutely horrible! The food there was bad-- half burned pancakes-- and took forever. The hotel was the official hotel for the US Junior Figure Skating National Championships. I felft that there was really nothing at the hotel acknowledging the USFSA or the skaters. I was disappointed and would not stay there again just to be part of the "official" hotel. Also, you have to pay for parking at the hotel. It is only $7/night but it was kind of weird. The hotel gave us tickets to exit the garage. If you ran out you had to go back to the front desk. It also seemed liked the parking attendant didn't know how to handle the tickets.

“Clean but $$$”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. Lots of places to eat and drink within walking distance. The TV’s are still the old tube type, just in case that’s important to you. I did think the room was nice, but $200+ did seem way pricey.

“Great place to stay if visiting Michigan State”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

Stayed overnight on a trip to Mich St. Was perfectly located a block from campus.
Rooms were large, bed was comfy.
Oddly shaped atrium lobby, I believe it is shared by office buildings in the same complex. Makes for a rather echo-y conversation.
But the front desk people were incredibly helpful, and I got a good night sleep.
And that's what's most important on a business trip.

“Old standby in East Lansing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

I visit MSU once per year and I stay at this old standby - the Marriott. Great location for university business, staff is always eager to please you and the standard room has not changed for years. The club floor has a great breakfast set up - a perfect way to start the day This hotel does not have have anything fancy or state of the art - just a clean room and perfect location. For those that expect a flat screen - nothing will be found. Parking on premise and if you leave early - no attendant on duty.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade to the 5th floor and access to club.
