We stayed here during a visit to Detroit recently. I was very impressed with the size and appearance of our room. It included a good-sized sitting room with a television and a sofa. A small hallway led to a sunken bedroom with a king-sized bed, another television and a desk. The bathroom and closet were along the hallway.
The decor was very modern and well-done. Like most contemporary furniture, the sofa and chairs were stiff and uncomfortable. However we slept great and the bed linens were of good quality. I appreciate the extra pillows in the armoire. The room was clean overall.
The hotel was quiet with no rowdy guests or late-night parties. They provided a free hotel shuttle van to nearby destinations. We took advantage of it to get a ride to the Fox Theater. It may have been walking distance but it was very cold outside. The area around the hotel is relatively safe but this is still Greektown with frequent shootings and armed robberies so be careful. We were able to walk to the Greektown casino. The walk was inside almost all the way except a short cold dash across a small side street.
The biggest disappointment was the complimentary continental breakfast. I don't expect much from these type of affairs but this was ridiculous. Coffee, plastic-wrapped cold pastries, cereal boxes, yogurt containers and that was it. No fresh fruit, no bread or bagels, no fresh doughnuts, no hot or cold entrees, no waffle maker.... It would have been better to have nothing. Fortunately there is a wonderful, local bakery just around the corner- the Astoria. Don't even bother with the hotel breakfast. Just dash to the Astoria.
