“Detroit Westin Airport Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

What a gem!
It is a traveller's dream! The hotel staff is so very accommodating. It was a pleasure to have a 'bell hop' take us directly from our room to the Delta check-in - and help us check in!
The Valet parking system was 'smooth'. We have made a pact that whenever we leave from Detroit, we will stay at the Westin. I am booked there in March, outbound and on my return and know it will be a pleasurable experience.

“I love this hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I never want to fly out of the Detroit Metro airport without doing a park and fly here. What could be easier? Really this is the way to go. Just putt up and let the valet take care of the car. Have a good night's rest before your flight. Take a swim or workout if you want to unwind. There are dozens of places to eat inside the airport so just relax and enjoy your trip. They have their own security screening and you won't find the long lines you would be dealing with otherwise. Stay once and you will be spoiled for any other options.

This hotel wouldn't make sense for anything more than an over night before a flight as the security is very tight and it would probably be annoying to deal with.

Room Tip: I would rather have an atrium view room. Outside view rooms you can hear the planes just aa bit. My...

“GOOD HOTEL FOR PRE FLIGHT STAY”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We stayed one night before a flight from Detroit Airport. We had a good deal on a park and fly rate. The hotel is nice, room okay. Food in dining room very good but pricey. You can enter into the airport directly from the hotel which is a plus. We went into the airport to grab a snack and look around the stores the evening we were there. You have to obtain a special pass at the security desk just by the reception area in the hotel. You are then allowed to enter the airport. The next morning we had our boarding passes and just went through security right at the hotel. Upon our return we picked up our car and it was so nice not to have to go out into the cold. Very handy. We would use the park and fly again when flying Delta out of Detroit.

Dear Valued Guest,

I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed our park and fly program. Our access to the terminal couldn't be easier for shopping and our Dema Restaurant and Lounge is a great option for dining in our hotel lobby.

Thank You,

“Worth the cost for Stay & Fly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

we stayed at westin in late january 2012 and it cost ~$164 for 1 night which included 10 days of parking so the cost was well worth it since our flight left early & there was a LOT of snow so i didn't want to drive up the morning of the flight. you just pull right up & they valet park it for you. rooms were spacious enough for what we needed. everything clean with no hint of mold / mildew / gross stuff. bed was comfortable. crib was brought to the room for free. bed was able to be pushed against the wall (we have a toddler in addition to our infant). cost of room service & menu seemed to be exactly the same as the cost / menu of the restaurant downstairs. had an airport view room, heard the planes only slightly, not bothered by it at all. if you want to go to the airport restaurants to hang out, the TSA guy is only there from 7:45am - 10pm or something like that; even so, he was only there manning his station sporadically because he kept having to go get more forms (you have to take a form with you when you go out into the airport). we couldn't use that station to check into our flight because our flight left before that 7:45am opening time. but it was convenient to go to the 2nd floor and walk out into the regular airport check in area when we needed to. you can only check your luggage within 4 hours of your flight.

“Not recommended”

This is convenient only when arriving on Delta one evening and departing on Delta early the next morning. Otherwise the hotel has a long list of faults. It really does not appear to have been designed for guests arriving or departing any other way. Half of the rooms lack outdoor-facing windows, with faux light from the atrium inducing a very sterile and claustrophobic atmosphere. Check-in is chaotic with a lot of impatient customers milling around Reception and no discernible queue. Amenities are very limited; even the basic newsstand is self-service so that purchases require waiting at Reception. Westin hotels so often seem much nicer on the exterior than they are in the experience. Best to visit here only if the objective is to get-in-get-out fast.

Room Tip: Do avoid the faux-window rooms facing the atrium.
