Overall, the hotel was very nice and my stay was pleasant. I was there for three nights on business. The location was nice, on the edge of downtown and a block away from a PeopleMover station. The two main restaurants (Roast and 24Grill) were nice, but Roast was much better and not much more pricey. If you go to Roast for happy hour, their bites and drinks were both insanely low priced and delicious - My colleague and I walked out with full and happy bellies for less than $50.00 including three glasses of wine. It gets REALLY busy so get to the bar early (4:30 or 5) for happy hour.

Their (Westin) website is lacking so know there is a pool and hottub on site, the gym is nice and large and offers quite a bit for a hotel gym. The rooms are spacious, modern and nice - nothing terribly flashy but nice.

The staff was nice, but not necessarily memorable - accomodating and polite which was enough for me.

Overall, very nice experience.

We stayed at the Westin Book Cadillac Detroit for the 2012 North American International Auto Show. We arrived very early in the morning, driving from Chicago. The doors were unmanned at the hour, but bell service was prompt. Check-in was slower than it should've been. A novice was clearly manning the desk and he clearly had trouble finding our reservation (10 minute delay).

We found the room nicely decorated, very clean and spacious. The room afforded great working space, decent views of Washington Blvd, and a peek at the Ambassador Bridge. The bathroom was nice for a renovated hotel. Great tub shower, but the floors were very cold. I highly recommend two double beds if you want a larger room.

The location of the hotel is excellent if you plan on having activities in Downtown Detroit. The area around the hotel is very walkable and quite safe. I wish there were more dining options in Downtown Detroit, but the hotel offers excellent dining options within the complex, chiefly the highly regarded Roast.

In-room dining needs improvement. The prices are very high and the quality of the food is simply not up to par, which is strange given the meal quality at Roast.

The Spa within the hotel is very good. Appointments are very easy to make and the prices are very reasonable compared other upscale hotels.

Overall the best features of the best features of this hotel are Cleanliness, Location, and the Spa.

If you have no interest to actually sleeping at night since music will be pumping through the walls due to the clientele this hotel attracts, then this would be the place for you!

Objectively - the hotel is nicely renovated, rooms are nice, etc. No complaints at all. Service is on par and consistent with other Westin hotels in major cities so no issues here either (reading between the lines is that Westin service is good, not stellar but not poor either).

However, one thing unfortunately that this hotel cannot control is the pockets of clientele it attracts...which is extremely low class unfortunately. Not what I expected given the price point but just picture Jersey Shore / rap video shoot as if this is a party hotel in Vegas.

Stayed at this hotel at least 20 nights over a 2 month stretch. It is an old building in the heart of Detroit that was recently renovated. The rooms are very modern and spacious. The bathroom are particularly nice - large and well appointed. There are 3 nice restaurants, make sure you visit Roast if you are there. You can park in parking structure behind the hotel for $10 instead of $25 for valet. Most people say they prefer this hotel over the Ren Cen Marriott, the only other comparable chain hotel in Detroit.
