“Clean spacious comfortable rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We stayed here for a Visalus business trip with other colleages Fri-Sat Feb 4. Check-in was smooth and quick. Staff was VERY helpful and friendly everywhere we went in the hotel. Valet service was great!! The guys were so nice and had my keys ready every time we went in and out. parking is an additional $20 a night. We easily got a luggage trolley and headed up to our room. Our room had 2 very comfortable Queen beds and lots of nice pillows, a chair and desk. We requested more pillows and towels and there was a knock delivering more in mere minutes. We also had a mini fridge and microwave.
We enjoyed the hot tub. The pool was very small and kind of cold. as was the fitness centre.. Good value for the most part at this hotel though I think for what we paid for downtown Detroit.
The best part was our room was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable, the staff were helpful and friendly. It was noisy overnight, got awoken a few times by loud screams, crying kids and also partiers but we called down 2x for security, once at 2:30am and again at 3:45AM. After getting awoken 2x , it seemed to quiet down for the remainder of the night by 4am, we slept well in the very comfy beds. Unfortuanately, due to all the night disturbances, we all slept in and were late for our conference we had driven all the way to Detroit for.
Next time I would request a room away from the elevators and up really high to lessen the chance of being near such a loud noisy room area.
Our room view was dismal, of a parking lot and a billboard for a Criminal defense lawyer. Check out was smooth, and the hotel restaurant was nice, as was the bar.
Upon leaving the hotel to walk to our conference, we didn't feel overly safe on the street- I think this hotel is on the edge of where the OK area meets the not-so OK area but hey I guess that's how it is in Detroit. I would stay here.again with others, but I would not stay here alone for reasons of not feeling safe due to the location once you walk out of the hotel and onto the street.
All in all a good hotel pick, I think they try very hard to please here

Room Tip: Away from elevators

“Best spot for Greektown visit....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

This was actually our second or third stay at this Hilton and certainly will not be our last. We live out in the burbs and always stay the night downtown when we visit the Greektown Casino for the evening. I am a long time Hilton customer and typically end up using my Honors points when we stay. Number of points are average for staying at this property by the way.

You cannot beat the location for a night at/in Greektown. Quick right out the front door and you are about a 3 minute walk from Greektown. No more than a block and a half. No worries, safe walk, pretty well lit (for downtown Detroit - city of burned out street lights lol). My husband and I met at the Casino after work and checked in separately, so I walked by myself from the hotel to the Casino - zero worries. Felt perfectly safe. No reason to be chicken folks. There is another Hilton downtown the Embassy Suites Fort Shelby - stayed there as well. Based on location, this Hilton beats them out hands down. It's quite a walk from the Hilton Fort Shelby to Greektown....and not one I would like to do. Cabs are NOT easy to get in downtown Detroit and they are expensive (you can easily get a cab FROM the hotel to where ever you are going, hard to get a cab BACK, Detroit is not NY, Chicago or Las Vegas) So I would recommend this Hilton, as again, you can walk to Greektown, and it's right across the street from the Stadiums.

Excellent front desk staff, very helpful. Rooms are your average Hilton mid range room but very clean. Good appointments of towels, shampoo. lotions, and conditioner in bathroom, etc. Small microwave and fridge in room for those leftovers. No complaints with the facilities.

Did learn something this time around though! Since hubby and I drove separately and met down there....I valet parked for the $20 bucks overnight stay (no problem, knew about the fee). Hubby self parked in the exact same parking lot for $5.00 overnight. As a matter of fact, our cars were actually pretty much next to each other when we left. When you pull into the Hilton, don't whip your car around and go through their valet. The public parking booth is right in the Hilton driveway - just pay that person in the window and you'll save $15.00 per day. Too funny. Live and learn I guess!

Excellent stay, excellent option and highly recommended. Plus I won on the slots that night so bonus!

Room Tip: 5 Guys Burger and Fries in Greektown for late night eats after the Casino! YUM!

Thank you for the recent stay, and great comments about the hotel and downtown. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Please be advised that the parking lot next door has changed and can no longer accept overnight parking.

“Good value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We stayed at hotel for just two nights at the end of a holiday. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Having free Internet in the lobby is a real bonus. There is not a great choice of restaurants or bars near here but for two nights we just went to Greek town.

“Good business hotel in the city center”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

This is an excellent hotel to work from. Free internet and printing. Confortable rooms. The restaurant is not very special but good enough for a quick meal.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms near the elevator and ice-making machines. These rooms can be quite noisy.

“Great Place to Stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed here on New Year's Eve. The hotel was packed with people but you would never know that. It was quiet and the staff was always available and very helpful when we asked for direction to the Michigan Opera House and recommended several places to eat in the area. The rooms were nice and very clean.
