Before our stay at the hotel we checked out the reviews online and were concerned about many negative comments made about the service at the hotel. I felt compelled to write a review because we had exceptional service. The lady at the desk was helpful, extremely friendly and upgraded our room to a suite (we are Priority Club members). When checking out the hotel, we walked towards the bar and a worker ran ahead of us and opened the door for us. The bartender seemed aloof and distant at first but once we started talking to her, she was great. She told us about places to go to while we were in Greektown. The hotel room was clean and comfortable, and being a suite, it was huge for our standards. Here's a tip to remember: The hotel charges $20 to park your car. We drove to Greektown Casino and parked free in their parking garage. We took the People Mover over to our hotel (Michigan Rd. station) for 50 cents each. We used the People Mover downtown wherever we went to avoid driving/ parking downtown. Our visit to Detroit was very enjoyable. Great place to stay. I highly recommend staying here.

I stayed one night with my wife and two children after attending a Lions game. I prebooked a non-refundable room and was a little nervous with the mixed reviews, but my wife and I were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly, and check-in took only moments. Lack of parking is not ideal, but I was OK paying the valet charge as it was very convenient. The room was just as expected with a Holiday Inn Express, clean and efficient if not luxurious. The complimentary breakfast was excellent: pancakes, biscuits and gravy, bacon, eggs, breads and cereals. The hotel was only one block away from the people-mover downtrain elevated train, which made travel to and from the stadium convenient. Overall a very good option for budget-minded families.

The property appears to be updated recently. Our rooms were clean and fresh. Each had a microwave, fridge and coffee pot with coffee provided. We were there for a concert and they did provide free shuttle service to Ford field and to Commerica Park. The people mover is appr 1 block away. We used the people mover and went to greektown casino prior to the concert and it was very convenient. There is a restaurant/bar next door which was nice for an after concert pizza and drink. The surrounding area is not the best for walking by yourself but appeared to be ok in a group. It is situated across the street from the Westin I believe. The continental breakfast in the am was standard Holiday inn express fare and was replenished as areas needed. For the price, I would definitely stay there again and recommend the property. The only complaint might be checking in...it was a little overwhelming. They only have valet parking in a lot behind the facility and it is 18.00 to park. Still cheaper than some lots.

I'm sorry people but if you have to spend extra for a different hotel I would definately recommend doing so! This place was aweful! Front desk staff particularly aweful. Very rude! Very unorganized, took 1 1/2 hours to check in and about 1 hour to check out. This time could have been cut in half if the front desk were professional and did not allow 15,000 people to butt in front of the line! I have never been so frustrated! The beds and rooms were fine, nothing spectacular but the front staff ruined the trip for us from the very start! I have already pre booked this hotel for a football game in December and am already dreading the stay, I think I will cancel and go elsewhere!
