I came for a conference in Renaissance center, and this motel seemed a good solution for my needs - cheap and close.
It is 5 minutes walk, and I walked during the day, but to come back at evening I had to take cab. And for the service it provides it is overpriced.
The room was clean but this is the only good thing I can say. The room has no amenities at all - no hair dryer, no iron. I've got an iron in the reception and had to carry a small ironing board to my room, where there was no place to put it comfortably, so I ended up bending and ironing my stuff on the bed. The "free internet in your room" does not work most of the time, and nobody would even try to help you with it. You are lucky if you sleep the whole night and nobody shouts right in front of your door somewhere at 3AM.

The front desk staff was very accommodating and helpful. The room was clean and well equipped, and it is true that one of the chamber maids looks like she comes off the street and is somewhat distant but she does her job well. However, the others are very friendly. The restaurant has great food and a clean, friendly atmosphere the wait staff is very attentive. I enjoyed my stay!

I'm a very easy person to please. I don't mind little hotel rooms with basic needs. This hotel was just horrible though! Within the first 2 minutes of even being there, at the lobby, we already had a guy bothering us to let us help him get a room because he only had a paper id.
When we got inside the room, the bed was a tiny bed with barely a cover, and in order to turn the heat on it had to be cranked to 90. One of the nights we left it on all night (to drone out the noise) and it smelled like burning hair in our room all the next day. There is no bath but a stand up shower instead.
We ordered chicken wings from the 'pizza marvelous grill' which were probably the worst wings I've ever had, plus they brought the wrong pop. When we looked in the trash later, we saw few hundred ants eating away at the rest of the chicken....
Both nights we stayed here we got woken up half a dozen times by the people upstairs going in and out of the room as well as a person circling the parking lot honking the horn over and over at like 3 in the morning. (I read that there was a prostitution problem here as well)
The breakfast they offered consisted of a plate of various muffins, a plate of bagels and some orange juice.
Had a horrible time and will NEVER come back!!

My son and I stayed at this Inn while in town for our first visit to the city to experience the Detroit Jazz Festival. Upon checking out of the Inn and loading our things, we discovered that someone had smashed my driver's side window and stolen all of our things. I notified the front desk clerk and was amazed at how rude she was. She showed no emphathy and was not willing to allow us to use a vacuum cleaner to get all of the smashed glass out of the vehicle so that we could at least travel home in safety. She indicated that it was against "hotel policy". What a f*cking dump. No security cameras so park at your own risk. Patrons for the Clique Restaurant indicated to me that there are always break-ins each week and that was my official welcome to Detroit. I'll never stay at this dump again and would suggest that you spend the money and stay somewhere else where there are camera to protect your personal property.
