I was in town visiting family and basically just needed a place to sleep and shower. I put a low bid on Priceline and this was the property I got for the bargain price of $40 per night. It is a very basic, bare bones property. It's designed for long-term stays. My room had a full-sized refrigerator, two burner stove, microwave, toaster and basic kitchen items. (Very basic - one pot, for example.) The room itself was very plain - just one piece of artwork above the bed. It was clean and smelled fresh. It looked as though it had recently been painted. There was soap in the bathroom but no other amenities. I kinda felt like I was in a college dorm room without my stuff! The furniture was worn and had clearly seen better days. The staff was extremely friendly and nice. I checked in late on a Friday night and went to my room. I wasn't so sure at first, because the hallway carpeting needed to be vacuumed (and could do with a good cleaning as well) and hallway itself smelled strongly of strange cooking odors. The room was pleasant enough, but then I noticed a large puddle of water on the floor. It appeared to be coming from the refrigerator. I called the front desk and Latreisha quickly came up with keys for another room down the hallway. She apologized for the inconvenience and upgraded me to a room with a king bed. It was late so I went to sleep. I realized later that the new room probably was not really intended to be rented, or at least needed a little tidying before it was. It was missing a lot of little things - a telephone, for example! (Is that a security issue? Not a problem for me since I had a cell phone.) Also missing was the coffee pot and supplies, the roll to hang the toilet paper on, bathmat, dish towel. I knew those things were missing because I saw them in the other room. I honestly didn't care because I truly was only sleeping and showing in this room. The bed was clean and comfortable. However, there was no covering on the box spring. The shower was fine with plenty of hot water. The back cover was missing from the remote control and the remote control did not work. I noticed that the TV's were different in the two rooms I saw. The first room had a tiny TV, and the second room had a nice big one. I never watched TV, so I can't tell you any more about it. The curtains were rumpled, but appeared clean. The windows were filthy. The a/c worked fine. There was a light bulb missing from one of the lamps and the lampshades were old and cracked. There were other cars in the parking lot, but the motel was extremely quiet so I had a good night's sleep both nights I stayed. The location is great - right next to Fairlane Mall and lots of restaurants. It is easily accessible from Southfield. Although this property was fine for my short stay, I would not stay here again. I like things a little bit nicer :-) I also question their attention to detail.
