“Get rid of Harold”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

The staff and rooms were excellent. My stay would have been perfect except for one thing: or better put one person I believe his name is Harold he seems out of place and I am not sure why he is there. He was lingering behind the scenes when I checked in. I felt so sorry for the lady who was checking me in it appears to me his job is to intimidate and embarrass the help. The rude comments he made to her and his overall condescending attitude put me off entirely on this hotel. He then made an attempt at a joke to ease my apparent discomfort; it too was tactless and demining. After his joke didn’t achieve the desired results he tried to fein an interest in my visit, the more he talked, which he did a lot of, the more I was clued in on his egocentric self centered ways. What an embarrassment to have your hotel represented by this person.

Room Tip: Run don't walk out before dealing with Harold

“my most embarrassing moment”

I have been staying at the Clare days inn for quite some time now and have never had an issue. this last weekend i spent 3 nights there. upon arrival we were demanded to pay for our first night stay if not our 3 day stay. the very next day i came down from second floor (even though i am handicapped and wanted a first floor room which i could not get) I still stayed without an elevator. as i approached the desk there were other quests around and one of the personel says very audibily can you please pay up for your next two nights. i have stayed in hotels that i pay on the way out of or on the way in and they knew me and i have never had an issue before nor have i ever done anything wrong at this hotel. i have helped and reccommended to others this hotel. i was even helping at breakfast with their broken waffle maker. i know a lot of the personel there and generally feel very comfortable but this time i was totally shocked and embarrassed. this is not the respect i felt i deserved. and i imagine by the look on my face they knew. i went to the bank and paid for my two nights and not sure if i will ever book there again.

“If your an Irishman, your in luck...and even when your not!! (a irishman that is)”

Clare Michigan is proud of it's Irish heritage and the Days Inn equally so. We were treated wonderfully by a great staff. The rooms were roomy and confortable and breakfast was very good. But what clued me to their pride was a HUGH mural hanging in the breakfast room. It filled the entire wall and was painted by a close by Michigander. It was beautiful and a puzzle at the same time.Full of leprecauns hiding in plain site.Long story short,if you need a room in central Michigan with a comfortable bed, good food and a little mystery to boot, this is the place.

“The most I've paid for the least level of accommodations.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

First the good; as others have stated the staff was very friendly and while we did not partake of the free breakfast bar it did appear to be a nice feature. In addition there are several stores and restaurants in easy walking distance of this property and it's close to the freeway. The room was also clean, quiet, and with good temperature controls.
On the not so positive side we felt the property was expensive ($120) for the condition of the rooms, hallways, and pool area. Our king bed room was very large but to fill the space we had a desk chair in the corner. Other rooms I peeked at had a small recliner which would have made more sense. Our room had clearly been a double queen room at some time based on the nail hole patterns still visible in the wall. A folding suitcase rack would have saved us leaving our suitcases on flat on the floor. We also noticed that carpet had been pulled up and unraveled at our doorway and a few spots in the hallways. I suspect this may be a result of their pet friendly policy. We also noticed a heavy cigarette smell in the hallway that extended from the entrance to our second floor hallway and even in our room. In fairness to this property you must initial that you won't smoke but some had and the smell never seemed to clear. Maybe most disappointing was the pool area. The area is small with a total of only four chairs and a couple of small tables. The pool is small with a consistant depth of three and a half feet. Vents for the heating and cooling were clearly missing which just made it appear not cared for.
Is any of this in and of itself enough to make us not stay here again, no. I just feel it was $ 40-50 over priced based on other budget to mid priced establishments we've stayed at.

“REALLY enjoy our stay!”

From the minute we walked in until we left - we were treated extremely well. The desk clerk was so friendly and check in so quick. He than offered to get our luggage & take it to our room as there was no elevator. The room was very olean and comfortable. The breakfast had a nice selection. As we were ready to leave - a very nice gal from housekeeping carried our luggage down for us. The owner sure knows how to hire friendly personal - a big Thank you to everyone.

Room Tip: Appreciate to friendly help at the desk.
