we called the front desk from the road asking to get into our room early since husband was attending a conference at the hotel, only to be told that room wasn't guaranteed until 3 o 4 pm. seriously, in big rapids on a thursday? anyway, we wanted to make some special arrangements for a friend of our who was also going to be staying in the hotel, but sarah (at the front desk) was not helpful and actually hung up on us as we were asking to be transferred to the restaurant (to get the help sarah was unable/unwilling to give us). holly, the mgr at the restaurant was great and did everything we could have asked to make our event memorable. meanwhile, when we did arrive, the supervisor was in a meeting and no one was available to see if we might check in early. my husband went off to his conference and i waited in the car until the supervisor came out of her meeting and, after much cajoling, they did give us a room.
location is ok, restaurant drinks were awful--stick with beer. room service was quick, toast was cold, but rest of breakfast was good. rooms were clean, beds were comfy. the pool looked nice. the stationery etc. in the room needed to be replaced--nothing hideous, but there is not a lot of attention to detail here, just the basics.

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay at the Holiday Inn in Big Rapids. We value all feedback, especially in areas of opportunity, so that we can implement training tools in those areas that will allow us to achieve the service level expectations of our guests. It was unfortunate, in the beginning, that we did not meet your expectations, however, I am glad that a manager got involved to ensure that the special arrangements for you and your friend were taken care of. I will share this with our other departments and we look forward to the opportunity of staying at the Holiday Inn should your travels bring you back to Big Rapids.
