My wife and I were recent first-time vistors to Beaver Island and Shanoule B & B, and it could not have been more pleasant thanks to Bob & Joan and their beautiful log home. It started with a report on the island from Bob back when we first made the reservations in January. Upon our arrival, Bob followed up his report with a tour of the main points of interest in the St. James area. This left us feeling like seasoned Beaver Island vacationers.

Our accommodations were spacious, clean and very comfortable. We stayed in the Iditarod Room; our name for it, as it is decorated with articles and memorabilia from Bob's Iditarod Adventure. This room affords nice views of the woods surrounding the home.

Breakfast was first-rate, and I never left the table hungry (and I can eat). From eggs benedict, to Greek fritattas and homemade sausage, we really were treated to gourmet food every morning. Bob really knows how to cook, and he likes to serve up new dishes to his guests.

Bob & Joan make sure their guests are comfortable and welcome in their home. The cozy setting invites relaxation and a calming sense of pace, which was a welcome change for us urbanites.

Bob and Joan treat you as guests in their beautiful log home located away from town in the woods. Joan is sweet and Bob is a hoot! He cooks up a delicious breakfast in the morning too! If you are looking for a nice, clean, quiet place away from the "main drag", then look no further.

This is a very nice B&B with modern fixtures and cute rooms. They had individual bathrooms and a very nice common room. Bob and Sharon are the best hosts that give you a personal tour of the island prior to your stay. The breakfast was delicious and they are very accommodating to your eating time. Fly on Island Airways and spend more time on the island!! (not the ferry). Highly recommend

I highly recommend staying in Bob and Joan Banville's beautiful, hand-built log cabin deep in the woods. Expect cozy, spacious, spotless bedrooms and a delicious breakfast, plus the chance to learn lots about the island and its people, history, culture, and wildlife. This was my first time on Beaver Island, and I won't consider staying anywhere else if I return.
