“Pretty Good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

Stayed Dec.23-25. I was impressed by the seemingly sincere attitude of the front desk staff and waitress: courteous, friendly, and helpful. I was pleased to receive breakfast vouchers for both mornings (without asking).
My king room was okay. No fridge or micro. Odd, considering no room service, and the restaurant is only open for breakfast. Since it was winter, I could put my jug of iced tea on the balcony. Lots of pillows, and there was a sofa (bed?).
The pool was warm and clean, but I was disappointed in the size. I choose a pool hotel to swim (even mini) laps after flying and driving. Simply too small for anything more than a splash. With so much space available, I just don't understand the logic behind a tiny pool in hotel full of guests.
Breakfast was good: buffet with eggs to order. Two chafing dishes of hot food: home fries, sausage, bacon, pancakes, scrambled eggs. Self-waffles. Melons, grapefruit, orange, and bananas. Pastries, breads for toasting. Yoghurt, etc.
Two restaurants within view of the front door: Northworks and Lucky's. Northworks has a pubby atmosphere with music. Ordinary, good fare (the place smelled fishy). Lucky's has good reviews.
The Marriott's location is near 290 access and Northern Worcester County. Easy parking around the front door.
The elevators are painted the same color as the walls, and I continually walked past them.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms have balconies.

“Great Hotel, mixed guest service”

Great stay with one exception! I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard in Worcester last week for six days on business travel. The reservation was booked through our Corporate Travel agent. Upon arrival the check in experience was overall good. The desk clerk was friendly and had my reservation in order making it very fast and efficient. I was working varied hours through out the week and staff was very friendly and helpful in getting my room cleaned and stocked while accommodating my odd hours. The room was great, clean and fresh with everything in working condition. My only downside was at checkout. I checked out at 3:15 AM and the lady at the front desk could not have been any more rude. I was obviously a burden to her in asking for a copy of my folio and she was absolutely sure to let me know what an inconvenience I was to her. I questioned my bill as my group was listed as UMASS instead of my company and I was abruptly told I had made my reservation wrong. I was charged $189.00 per night but quoted a group rate of $135.00 on my reservation under our company rate. When I told the clerk this she told me "no" and acted like I was lying to her refusing to look at my travel itinerary from the travel agent. No offer to fix or adjust the folio at all. I was a loyal Marriott guest with Platinum status for many years but after several bad experiences like my checkout here found my way to the Hilton brand and it looks like I will remain a Hilton customer going forward still. The worst part of this was the stay was fantastic up to this point and I had planned on telling the clerk I would be happy to return to Marriott for future stays until she greeted me with her horrible attitude.

“Nice downtown hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

This was a convenient place to stop over for one night on the way home from vacation. It was very convenient off and onto the highway. Since it was a weekend, there was virtually no traffic to deal with. We had dinner one block away at a nice restaurant. The hotel was clean and there was nothing I can think of to complain about.

“acceptable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

not sure it was worth the money, though. For the money, should definitely have a refridgerator, perhaps even a microwave. The hotel was clean, the staff was good but not great. Breakfast at the hotel was good, but pricey--$45 for four, buffet, with an option for fried or poached eggs. Food was good, though.

“Friendly Service, not much around”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

Hotel was fine. Nothing great, but the staff was nice. There is a restaurant just down the street that will deliver, but getting home after delivery stopped left minimal options. I ended up walking down to pick up my food and though I'm sure the area is fine, I found it a bit creepy to walk by myself. As others have mentioned a car is a must.
