“Stay in your car instead!”

I wish I had been informed about the "transients" that live in this hotel. I travel extensively and this was my first stay at a Quality Inn and probably my last.
Descriptive addjectives:
Homeless Shelter or Public Housing Unit!
Unbelievable. The hotel is straight up gross. Sketchy men hanging around outside. I'll try and be nice here but there is no way to describe it with out being a tad judgemental! Smelled bad, couch had holes in it, blanket with cigarette burns. Undesireable people who apparently "live" there????? I actually didn't feel safe for the 1 night I was there!! Worst part was I paid $203 for this room!!!

Room Tip: Easy chose a room in a different hotel!

Thank you for submitting a review on our property. I am the new General Manager at the Quality Inn and Suites. Some steps that we are currently taking to combat a few of your concerns are:

The hotel does house families from time to time that have lost their homes due to unfortunate circumstances. We participate in a program funded by the government to help provide such individuals with reasonable living accommodations. These families adhere strictly to rules during their stay at the hotel till such time that they can find suitable accommodations.

I did post a full refund for your stay due to the condition of the items in your room. I do apologize for this incident and do hope that you will consider seeing the renovations we are doing to the hotel.

I wanted to make you aware of the proactive things we are doing to address all concerns.

I hope if you have the opportunity, you contact me to see what we have done to the hotel.

Thank you again for your feedback.

THIS IS NOT A HOTEL YOU WANT TO STAY IN UNLESS YOU HAVE TO! WITH THAT SAID, IF YOU HAVE TO STAY HERE, ITS NOT THE WORST HOTEL IN THE WORLD!

This hotel is used primarily by the local Department of Transitional Assitance as well as other human service agencies to house homeless families. These families may be facing homeless for a variety of reasons.

Now the hotel does try to seperate the homless families and hotel patrons, but like many reviews have already noted the atmosphere of the hotel is not one of rest and relaxation and the condition of many of the rooms throughout the entire hotel are mediocre.

The staff are sometimes nice, other times moody and difficult to deal with.

There is restaurants, fast food establishments, shopping, and grocery stores very close to the hotel.

The hotel is right off the highway and close to UMass Medical School, UMass Universtiy Campus, and Quinsigamond Lake. However, I would not describe it close to downtown Worcester or the DCU Center.

It is true that there is a methadone clinc very close to the hotel. It is also very close to public housing. However, I would not describe this area as "ghetto" or unsafe as I have worked right down the street from this hotel for almost a decade.

I would never choose to stay in this hotel unless it was an absolute emergency. There are other hotels closer to downtown Worcester and within the surronding towns (Auburn, Shrewsbury, Marlboro) that are MUCH nicer.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms beggining with 5 (2nd floor of hotel) if you can. This floor is primarily desginated fo...

Thank you for submitting a review on our property. I am the new General Manager at the Quality Inn and Suites. Some steps that we are currently taking to combat a few of your concerns are:

I appreciate you showing the positives of our property as well as explaining some of your concerns.

You are correct in saying that we do house families. The hotel houses them from time to time when they have lost their homes due to unfortunate circumstances and participates in a program funded by the government to help provide such individuals with reasonable living accommodations. These families adhere to strict rules during their stay at the hotel till such times that they can find suitable accommodations.

The Quality Inn and Suites will soon be two separate hotels consisting of a 49-room Quality Inn and Suites and a 65-room Suburban Extended Stay Hotel. This will help to ensure that the families we have staying here will be located in a separate hotel. All guests will be advised that the Suburban Extended Stay hotel does have families that are here for extended stay, which is defined as 7 nights or longer.

We describe ourselves close to downtown and the DCU Center because it takes a 5-7 minute drive to get there. We are within 5 miles of both and are 1 exit off 290 away from downtown Worcester.

There is a clinic on Lincoln Street and Spectrum Health Services has four such clinics all across Worcester. Its an organization dedicated to lives of individuals who are affected by an addiction and/or mental illness. One of their facilities does happen to be close to the hotel but it has limited hours and its patrons do not visit the hotel. They do have a security officer that patrols during its open hours to control traffic on the street.

We have recently painted the rooms and refurbished and/or stained the current furniture. We will be doing more renovations in the months to come.

I wanted to make you aware of the proactive things we are doing to address all concerns.

I hope if you have the opportunity, you contact me to see what we have done to the hotel as you have worked close to the hotel for years.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Babies running around only wearing diapers. Guys smoking pot in the parking lot. Gangsters trying to sell stolen cell phones as I walk in. Methadone clinic at the end of the street. Playground with a tire swing and see-saw; the rest is destroyed. Not worth the money. Welfare hotel! Checked into a dirty room with trash everywhere. The problem was resolved quickly, but still not satisfied with the cleanliness.

I have never heard of anyone being at our hotel to sell cell phones to anyone. I do hope that this was reported immediately to the hotel staff so that we could have contacted the local authorities. Soliciting is not allowed on our property.

There is a clinic on Lincoln Street and Spectrum Health Services has four such clinics all across Worcester. One of their facilities does happen to be close to the hotel but it has limited hours and its patrons do not visit the hotel. They do have a security officer that patrols during its open hours to control traffic on the street.

The playground has been repaired numerous times. The swings, etc, are not out there during the colder months as most residential homes do; however, we will be taking the equipment down shortly.

We have recently painted the rooms and refurbished and/or stained the current furniture. We will be doing more renovations in the months to come.

If you could respond to me or contact me at the hotel, I would be happy to investigate what happened with your stay in regards to being checked into a dirty room. I know that you were immediately moved to a different room, but these things can be prevented through training of my staff.

I wanted to make you aware of the proactive things we are doing to address all concerns.

I hope if you have the opportunity, you contact me to see what we have done to the hotel.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Booked this hotel at the last minute. Arrived at midnight to a "dump". I was afraid to stay there. Refused to even check in. Had to search for another hotel in the middle of the night. Finally, found a room at the Marriott Courtyard. Now I know why they had available rooms.

Can you tell me what about the hotel made you think it was a dump as you didn't enter the property?

There is a new fencing around the dumpster. We are taking down the swingset and see-saw. There was a car that belonged to one of our long-term doctors that was staying here. He donated it to Kars for Kids. We have employees picking up trash every few hours around the hotel. We do get a fair share of it blowing through the woods from the shopping plaza. We also monitor the parking lot for dumping. I am in the process of improving the lighting in the parking lot.

I wanted to make you aware of the proactive things we are doing to address all concerns.

I hope if you have the opportunity, you contact me to see what we have done to the hotel.

Thank you again for your feedback.

“Average but location not bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

I have been to Worcester thrice and on all occasions stayed in Quality Inn on Oriol Drive. It's an average hotel but there are a few pros. 1. Location adjacent to Lincoln Street- quite a few stores including Stop and Shop, Borders, Target, Dick's and Lowes are in walking distance. A number of eateries including pizza joints, mexican, italian and japanese restaurants, Mc d, DD are in walking distance. 2. Suites with kitchen and ample space. 3. Cheap monthly rates - comes up to $61 per day - not bad for business trips. Not a very exciting place to stay with your family but it does not burn a hole in your pocket.

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony facing the driveway leading to the main lobby.
