THIS IS NOT A HOTEL YOU WANT TO STAY IN UNLESS YOU HAVE TO! WITH THAT SAID, IF YOU HAVE TO STAY HERE, ITS NOT THE WORST HOTEL IN THE WORLD!
This hotel is used primarily by the local Department of Transitional Assitance as well as other human service agencies to house homeless families. These families may be facing homeless for a variety of reasons.
Now the hotel does try to seperate the homless families and hotel patrons, but like many reviews have already noted the atmosphere of the hotel is not one of rest and relaxation and the condition of many of the rooms throughout the entire hotel are mediocre.
The staff are sometimes nice, other times moody and difficult to deal with.
There is restaurants, fast food establishments, shopping, and grocery stores very close to the hotel.
The hotel is right off the highway and close to UMass Medical School, UMass Universtiy Campus, and Quinsigamond Lake. However, I would not describe it close to downtown Worcester or the DCU Center.
It is true that there is a methadone clinc very close to the hotel. It is also very close to public housing. However, I would not describe this area as "ghetto" or unsafe as I have worked right down the street from this hotel for almost a decade.
I would never choose to stay in this hotel unless it was an absolute emergency. There are other hotels closer to downtown Worcester and within the surronding towns (Auburn, Shrewsbury, Marlboro) that are MUCH nicer.
Room Tip: Avoid rooms beggining with 5 (2nd floor of hotel) if you can. This floor is primarily desginated fo...

Thank you for submitting a review on our property. I am the new General Manager at the Quality Inn and Suites. Some steps that we are currently taking to combat a few of your concerns are:
I appreciate you showing the positives of our property as well as explaining some of your concerns.
You are correct in saying that we do house families. The hotel houses them from time to time when they have lost their homes due to unfortunate circumstances and participates in a program funded by the government to help provide such individuals with reasonable living accommodations. These families adhere to strict rules during their stay at the hotel till such times that they can find suitable accommodations.
The Quality Inn and Suites will soon be two separate hotels consisting of a 49-room Quality Inn and Suites and a 65-room Suburban Extended Stay Hotel. This will help to ensure that the families we have staying here will be located in a separate hotel. All guests will be advised that the Suburban Extended Stay hotel does have families that are here for extended stay, which is defined as 7 nights or longer.
We describe ourselves close to downtown and the DCU Center because it takes a 5-7 minute drive to get there. We are within 5 miles of both and are 1 exit off 290 away from downtown Worcester.
There is a clinic on Lincoln Street and Spectrum Health Services has four such clinics all across Worcester. Its an organization dedicated to lives of individuals who are affected by an addiction and/or mental illness. One of their facilities does happen to be close to the hotel but it has limited hours and its patrons do not visit the hotel. They do have a security officer that patrols during its open hours to control traffic on the street.
We have recently painted the rooms and refurbished and/or stained the current furniture. We will be doing more renovations in the months to come.
I wanted to make you aware of the proactive things we are doing to address all concerns.
I hope if you have the opportunity, you contact me to see what we have done to the hotel as you have worked close to the hotel for years.
Thank you again for your feedback.
