“Average but location not bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

I have been to Worcester thrice and on all occasions stayed in Quality Inn on Oriol Drive. It's an average hotel but there are a few pros. 1. Location adjacent to Lincoln Street- quite a few stores including Stop and Shop, Borders, Target, Dick's and Lowes are in walking distance. A number of eateries including pizza joints, mexican, italian and japanese restaurants, Mc d, DD are in walking distance. 2. Suites with kitchen and ample space. 3. Cheap monthly rates - comes up to $61 per day - not bad for business trips. Not a very exciting place to stay with your family but it does not burn a hole in your pocket.

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony facing the driveway leading to the main lobby.

“Don't bother”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2011

We booked a room sight unseen using the Choice Hotels catalog and when we arrived, it looked like a public housing complex, because that's essentially what it was. We stood inside checking in and heard a couple of young men arguing on a balcony, and it turned out to be a place where they rent rooms by the week, definitely not a family place to stay for even one night. They accepted dogs for $35, but when asked where we could walk the dog, they said "Out back in the woods." The motel is located in a less than desirable part of town, and wanted to charge us almost $200 for a "suite" while answering a phone call from an interested party by saying, "Yes, we rent the suites for $129 a week." We felt unsafe in the area and in the motel. We immediately canceled and the clerk, who had scanned our credit card, said she didn't know how to do a credit/refund and that would have to wait until someone came in the next morning. When I requested some kind of receipt for proof we would be refunded, she wrote down a cancellation number on a scrap piece of paper. She was polite but not reassuring. We drove 3 more hours to find another motel, as most were booked and didn't get one until 10 p.m. We would have rather slept in the car, if necessary, than stay at the Quality Inn in Worcester. It is fine for its apparent purpose as a quasi-apartment rental, but for a family motel it should not be listed in the Choice directory, and I've written a letter to the company suggesting that.

“wish this worked out, but it didn't”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2011

We stayed in this hotel because of its location and price. We found out that you get what you pay for. The road that the hotel is on was in horible shape, you needed to dodge the pot holes the entire way into the hotel. We were looking for a place close to WPI collage where our son is planning on attending next year. Unfortunately we will not be back to this hotel. The hotel itself was alright, and the staff was friendly. The room we had was quiet, in good shape, with a balcony (not that we needed it). Here comes the bad part, the bed was so hard neither one of us could sleep through the entire night. When we woke up the next day we could hardly move our backs were so sore. The other problem we had was regulating the heat in the room, so it got very warm during the night. WE went for the free breakfast, it was a joke. a few donuts (out of a box - I am sure), bread and bagels but we heard people saying that the toaster did not work, eggs (that were so runny they could have left on their own) and sausage. We ended up at a McDonalds down the road.
We wish this could have worked out for us because we were ready to start booking for upcoming events at the school because there are so many collages in the area we wanted to make sure we would have a place. This will not be it, we will have to keep looking.

“Hotel lost my cancellation - stay away!”

I made a reservation in October 2010 for 2 nights in December. I cancelled the reservation a few days later. I jotted down the cancellation number on a post-it in my office, but I never received an e-mail confirming the cancellation. In fact, I never received an e-mail confirming my reservation either. I ended up being charged for the room anyway, and have been trying to dispute it ever since with no luck since I can't find that post-it. I can't understood why it is MY responsibilty to keep track of their reservations/cancellations. THEIR mistake is costing me $110. Their customer service SUCKS! Stay away!

“Not sure where negativity is coming from.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2010

Booked this hotel last minute through a 50% off deal becasue we only needed a place so sleep for the night. After booking, hotel was revealed and then I read reviews. I must admit I was very concerned after seeing all the negative reviews. I have to say don't be swayed by them. It seems to me people are looking for 4 star quality on a 2 star price. Let's not forget this is rated as a 2 star hotel. Not sure what people would expect for the price. The place was clean and quiet. We had a very large, comfortable room with no musty or smokey smell. We stayed on a Sat. night, not only was there not any noise, we didn't even encounter anyone other that the staff. It is a ittle tired and worn, but clean. It is out of the way from the downtown area, so you do have to travel through a lot of congestion and many lights. Not sure how potholes in a road effect one's lodging, but I guess if you utilze that factor as part of the rating-you will find that. Continental breakfast was fairly basic, baked goods and eggs, although my daughter was disappointed with the lack of the "make your own waffle machine". We did not feel unsafe at anytime. If fact when we left to go out apparently out door did not close all the way, which we discovered on our return several hours later. Nothing was missing, staff offered to move us if we wished, but there was not any need. If you are looking for a place to sleep, close to the highway, this would suffice. If you want something for extended stay, walking distance to downtown and in a nice area, probably not the best choice.
