I think I have stayed at dozens of motels on Route 28 over the years in Cape Cod. Some were very nice...some not so nice. This hotel was in the middle. A bit beat but not as bad as others are saying...at least in my room. Check in was easy. The desk staff is very pleasant. Our request for a ground floor room was honored. The room was simple and we found it clean and well maintained. Roomy enough. The beds were only fair as far as comfort. The room was decorated in a typical motel decor nothing special but nothing that sent me screaming into the street. It was a bit dated. Think HoJos in the 70's. The bathroom was bright and clean but lacking in counter space (there was none). Decent water pressure and hot water. The room had a fridge which was helpful and the TV worked great with a good selection of channels. There was a little table and chairs in the room. The sliders in the back of the room opened onto a small playground and picnic area. I could hear the kids in the room above us running and bouncing around but I have found that at most Cape Cod hotels. Price of having the ground floor room. They offered free internet but the signal was very weak and I couldn't get it to work with my Android phone and that may have been just me. The hotel is located very close to the Hyannis line on Route 28 in West Yarmouth. We were taking a ferry to Martha's Vineyard the next day so that was convenient. Within easy driving distance is just about everything you need in terms of restaurants, ice cream parlors, liquor stores, drug stores, super markets, a mall, multiplex theater, mini-gold, trampoline place for the kids, etc.
The motel has two pools. An outdoor and indoor pool. The outdoor pool was large and clean. I like it. We tried the indoor pool at night and it is much smaller and the water was a bit cloudy. They have a hot tub but the jets were not very forceful and I frankly get grossed out by hot tubs. The breakfast was barely there. Bread, bagels, peanut butter and jelly, butter, coffee, juice and some cereals and a wrapped pastry. Enough to get you going but compared to some of the other continental breakfasts offered by other hotels..it was sparce. If you are a big breakfast eater go to the Pancake Man or McDonalds. There is also a Dunkin Donuts close by.
I am sure I stayed in this hotel at least once in the past though I can't remember its old name. This was many years ago and I remember the Irish housekeepers they had there back then. Ted Kennedy tacked on an ammendment to some bill...it allowed for thousands of young men and women from Ireland to work on the Cape in tourism for the summer. Special visas. Good old Teddy.
The cost of the hotel was not bad. The prices for some hotels during the summer is robbery but it is supply and demand. I would stay here again unless I could score a better hotel for a similar or lower price. You get what you pay for. The people running this place are very nice and they try hard. But the facility shows it age, budget and it screams....typical resort area hotel.
Room Tip: Ground floor is the way to go. Ask for a room away from the main road (Route 28). The rooms at th...
