For the third year in a row my wife and I spent New Year's weekend at the Shaker Mill Inn in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts. This Berkshires gem features a handful of rooms, each tastefully decorated with custom furnishings. Some rooms have fireplaces, others, like ours, had a gas fireplace, which is really nice in the dead of winter. The innkeepers stock the room with the makings for a very nice breakfast, including things like a fresh quiche, bagels, croissants, and turnovers, as well as fresh milk and juice. There's a fridge, toaster oven, and microwave in each room. The place is very well appointed, and there's a great restaurant right out the front door.

We made a last minute reservation at the Shaker Mill Inn and we were so happy with the stay and experience. The rooms were very clean and tidy. The owners thought about every little thing you might need for your stay to be the most comfortable -- even to littlest details like a flashlight. They also helped us pick a wonderful restaurant for our birthday dinner.
Our dog was just as happy that she could travel with us. When we arrived there was a doggie welcome basket with goodies, food bowl and a book of local walks for dogs! We were all VERY happy. We can't wait to return.

We stayed in the Tanglewood room in December. The kitchenette and the electric fireplace were wonderful features. The bathroom and the overall atmosphere were very nice. We recommend bringing sippers being the bare floors were cold and the throw rugs were dirty. The pre-cooked breakfast wasn't impressive. We were disappointed with the 7:30am jumpers above us (children I presume) and the outside lights that shined in through the windows (no blackout curtains). Our stay at the Shaker Mill Inn wasn't the worst but not quite the best. However, we would recommend it to friends and family if they were looking for a private stay in Stockbridge.

Like recent reviewers, there are many extra's that make the inn a convenient place to stay including the microwave, toaster oven and bar sink. The room is very spacious and it's nice to have two beds for a family (with children) and the small table for breakfast and anytime meals not to mention a small couch. The continental breakfasts were a change of pace compared to the typical B&B. The advantage is that it is convenient and ample. The disadvantage is that you are not served a culinary delight on fine china and the opportunity to chat with other guests which we do enjoy. FYI, if you are traveling with small children, there are shower stalls not tubs, at least in the Queensboro and Catamount Rooms. It was great having the connecting rooms when visiting with another couple. Small and quaint describes the hamlet of West Stockbridge of which the inn is part of.
