My wife and I were staying for one night and we chose the "nicer" $120 non-smoking room. When I checked in, the girl behind the counter was chatting with the people in front of me. They had finished checking in and were just chatting. Even though I was obviously waiting, she just kept talking to them about nothing important for at least 5 more minutes.

Half the rooms on our hall were smoking and half were non-smoking. Some of the smoking rooms were right across from or next to non-smoking. The carpet was very old and dirty and the hall stank of stale smoke. One of the steps up to the second floor was visibly crumbling. The seal around the tub was dirty and moldy. The tv was very old and small and the picture was very poor. The window looked out on a wall 5 feet away.

None of the rooms in the motel have a refrigerator nor was there an ice machine. I asked at the front desk if they had any plastic spoons or knives-- they did not. We had brought sodas and had to drink them warm and had to throw our food out the next day.

Other than all that, the room itself was fine. Seemed pretty clean, the bed was comfortable enough, and the free wi-fi worked well.

My bf and I stayed here for 2 nights while visiting friends in Western Mass.
The good: The price was right. The bathroom was clean. There are well-placed drink machines to help quench you thirst. The room is equipped with a hair dryer, and I like that you can actually slide open a window for air.
The bad: The walls are super super thin. Friends of ours stayed in an adjoining room the first night and said that they heard the bf and me fooling around. The second morning we were woken by a conversation in the room next to us that was so loud it sounded like they were right there in the bed with us. Also, in our room, the sink was next to the beds, not in the bathroom. It's not the biggest deal but it would have been nice to wash my hands BEFORE leaving the bathroom.
The ugly: I saw a blood stain on the side of one of the mattresses in our room. From menstruation or murder, I couldn't really tell. Also, there were some random strands of hair that I had to shake out of the towels- most likely from the cleaning staff, but again, one can never be sure.

i come into west springfield a few times a year depending on whats going on. the econo lodge is a cheap stay with no frills. the staff is nice and the location is good. it might not be a ritz carlton but its fine.

This was an absolute dump. I have never stayed at a worse hotel. The staff was rude to begin my stay. Then the hallways were filthy. Upon entering my room, I found the TV could not get local stations due to satelite problems. When I went to call, I found I couldn't because my phone was broken. As were the alarm clock, hair dryer, and ice machine. The security door into the building was constantly propped open with a brick. It is places like this that give lower-priced hotels a bad name. We would have changed hotels in a second; however, the entire area was booked due to the lacrosse tournament at UMass we were attending.
