“Best price for a room with a kitchen in that area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2011

I needed a room with a kitchenette in the Waltham area and the price for the suite in this Hotel was the best in the area. For sure, I’ve been in other hotels with better room arrangements and better kitchenettes but for $80+ you cant ask for more. The room was relatively clean with one King bed. I didn’t have reservations so I just went there and the staff was really helpful and accommodating. There were two electric stove burners (no oven); a regular size fridge, microwave and small sink (no dishwasher). They had some utensils such as 2 plates, 2 mugs and 2 glasses plus cutleries but only one pot. I was glad I brought all utensils including sponge, dish soap and napkins because none of that was provided. I don’t know if they have some if you request it but I was fine because I had my own stuff also no toiletries besides a soap bar were provided. We really made use of the kitchen and it worked for us, so I will definitively come back, I mean you can’t compare this place to a regular suite/studio (Remember only $80+!!) but you are getting the basic stuff for probably half the price of other suites, and that helps if you are on a budget.

“It's really not worth your money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2010

Stained carpets, creaky bed, torn tapestry, smelly rooms and maybe a dirty elevator will greet you at Homestead, Waltham. This is by far the worst experience in a hotel stay during any of my business trips. The hotel staff were courteous, though.

“Adequate for a driveby”

My teen daughter and I stayed for 1 night from 9/25-9/26. We were in the area for college tours. We were placed in a handicapped accessible room so it was spacious. The room and bathroom were clean and it did not smell like smoke. The bed was actually comfortable. Be advised that although they offer Internet access it is not free $4.99 fee. The location is fine if your driving not convenient to public transportation ( buses do not run on Sundays)... @ a $40 ride to downtown Boston. Would return if it's 1/2 nights and I just need a place to lay my head. The price was right $89.99. I should mention that the front desk person both on the phone and in person were knowledgeable, very helpful, polite, and very friendly. Lastly, although it has a full kitchen it does not have many cooking utensils and/or pots and pans to cook with. Microwave and the fridge work well.

“smelly”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2010

went there because of a needed trip to Childrens Hospital Boston. Room smelled like smoke, room rundown, lucky I brought my own pillow as the room pillow smelled used and sweaty YUCK! came back after a long day room smelled as if someone was smoking in there the whole day. Front desk lady (she was very nice & apologetic) came to spray something sweet smelling orange stuff, did not really help if you don't mind run down, smoke smell room then this is a fine place to stay, remember since its an extended stay, no room cleaning.

“Never again...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2010

I spent two nights at the Homestead Suites in Waltham for business, and it was the worst work-related travel experience I have ever had. The furnishings were ancient and had cigarette burns in them (even though the room was non-smoking). The bedspread and towels appeared to be decades old, the shower curtain was moldy, and the bathroom floor was sticky when I walked on it in bare feet. Yick! The walls were thin, and you could easily hear noise from adjacent rooms and the hallway. Additionally, the wall-unit air conditioner sounded like a hair dryer running on max. Speaking of hair dryers, that was the only amenity in the room other than a bar of soap. There was also no maid service during my stay. There was also a strange smell in the hallway and room that I could not identify, but it didn't smell clean and fresh. The location was very convenient to both the interstate and where I was working, but I will NEVER stay there again.
