“Business Trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Stayed here last week for an annual meeting. This is hands down the best hotel in the Waltham area. Really can't come up with any negatives except that wifi was not free and the bar area is a little tight so it can be busy and a little close quarters. For business or pleasure, I would highly recommend this hotel. Also, the staff was excellent. Very professional. Overall a great stay.

“Middle of the Road Westin”

Located in a suburb north of Boston, this corporate-looking Westin caters mostly to a business clientele visiting the dozens of headquarters and branch offices that dot the landscape adjacent to Route 128/I-95. The hotel is housed in an imposing 1980's style curved glass tower. The 2 story lobby is spacious but not particularly warm or inviting. The front-desk service is friendly and efficient. The moderate sized rooms are outfitted with Westin's signature contemporary furnishings and comfy bed. They are neat and clean, but it's clear that they have not been completely updated for awhile. For example, bathrooms have original fixtures and those dark beige ceramic shower tiles that I had in my 1950's house when I was a kid. Kind of nostalgic but strange to find in a Westin. The $15.00 charge for parking is annoying, but with airlines nickel-and-diming passengers and rental cars adding on all kinds of extraneous charges, this is just another thing we have to accept. Ah, remember the days of free parking! Kind of nostalgic, isn't it?

“Not The Best Westin”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Stayed here December 4, 2011. Hotel is hard to find, no lighted sign on dark road. Beware of being charged for parking in detached garage.....not all guests have to pay. Price for parking was higher than what was listed on website. Garage has no security, was wide open, gates were up at all times. At checkout we protested parking charge because the guest who checked in beside us at 9:55 the night before was told "parking is complimentary." At check out we were told rather bluntly, "all Westins charge for parking", which is really silly in Waltham. The six or so other hotels in the immediate area do not charge, including the Courtyard by Marriott which has a much more convenient under-hotel garage. By the time we got through the check-in process we saw the backside of the valet running down the stairs. His shift had just ended.

Room was ordinary and the.carpet was tired and worn, Room did not have all amenties....who substitutes conditioner in place of lotion? HVAC was noisy and did not work properly.

Dear Traveler,

I am sorry that your stay with us did not meet your expectations. The hotel does charge for overnight parking in our garage. However, day parking for guests attending meetings in the hotel is complimentary and many of our corporate clients have parking incorporated in their rates.

If you will be returning to the Waltham area in the future, we would be delighted at the opportunity to provide you a better Westin experience.

All my best,
Shauna

“Good hotel outside of Boston”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

I spent a total of four nights here over the Christmas weekend. I booked the Starpicks Rate ($89 per night). When I reserved my room, I asked to be placed in a quiet room on the SPG floor. I was in a nice room facing the highway and experienced no problems with noise from 95. The HVAC system was loud. I shut it off before I went to sleep. Everyone at the front desk, especially Colins who checked me in, was very nice and helpful. I traveled with my dog, a 38 lb mixed breed, and she was treated well too. I agree with other reviewers that $15 per night for parking is too much. I took up the hotel on its offer to waive cleaning in exchange for 500 points or a $5 voucher for use in the hotel's eating establishments (restaurant and Starbucks). I would stay here again. It's a quick ride to Lexington Center, Concord Center and all the other pretty historic places that make Massachusetts special.

Room Tip: Ask for the SPG Floor and to be placed AWAY from the elevators.

“Typical Westin Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

Stayed for business with a nice corporate rate $143 for an overnight trip to an office in Waltham Overall nice hotel, no Gold Upgrade was available do to capacity, I think the Celtics team was staying there at the time.

Thought some of the charges were excessive and more appropriate for a downtown hotel....$18 for valet parking, $15 for self parking in a suburb. Had to wait 10 minutes upon coming back to the hotel because there was no valet available, had to leave my car outside and give the key to the front desk. Under normal circumstances, the $3 difference for Valet is worthwhile given the walk to the garage

Buffet breakfast $23 or $30 after tip and tax, overpriced not even an omelet station..bit disappointed there, but the room rate made up for it, so all total $200 for a room, parking and tax would still be less than half of a place in Boston downtown

Hello Jason!

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We try and recognize SPG status whenever possible and I am sorry that we were not able to do so during your most recent stay with us. I will follow up with the Front Office Team regarding your experience with valet. We definitely want to provide you with the best arrival experience possible.

We appreciate your loyalty to Starwood and look forward to welcoming you back to the Westin Waltham the next time you find yourself in the area!

Safe travels,
Shauna
