“2BR Suite w/ Sofabed good value for multi-family visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Visiting Waltham, MA. It was me, my wife, two kids (9 & 6) and my mom. So instead of getting multiple hotel rooms we got a 2BR Suite with sofa bed. Mom got one room, my wife and I got another room. Kids on the sofabed.

However, please note I gave 5 stars based upon my expectations. This is not a 5-star luxury resort and I did not expect that. However, it provided its function at a reasonable cost at and expected 3-star hotel.

Room Tip: 2BR suite with sofabed is good value.

“In a word, perfect.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

Our room suited our needs perfectly. I was taking my 15 year old daughter and her best friend to a concert in Boston. Originally we were looking for 2 hotel rooms (one for the girls, one for me) to avoid any awkwardness. The only rooms we found in other hotels were smoking rooms (unacceptable). Then we stumbled onto the 2 bedroom suite. It was less expensive than renting two rooms, each kid got their own bedroom and I took the couch. We were a short ride away from the MBTA Riverside station and took the subway into Boston which put us right around the corner from the concert venue without having to deal with driving or parking the car.
The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, the place was clean and well kept, and the breakfast was a nice bonus.
We will be taking advantage of this on our future trips to Boston.

“Great place for meetings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

I had a two day seminar event with catering provided by the hotel staff. The breakfast, break snacks and lunches were served on time and very tasty.

The hotel also serves a free breakfast buffet for its guests and evening socials with really good food. The rooms have a calendar with the food theme for the evening. If you want to eat at a restaurant then you will have to walk or take a short drive to some nearby places.

I did not require A/V services and brought my own projector. Hotel staff had the room setup for a training session with tables, chairs and prjector table already set up. The back of the room was lined with tables for the coffee/tea bar and continental breakfast.

The room is slept in was comfortable, clean and spacious complete with stove, fridge, microwave and cookware. I did not use any of the cooking appliances but they were clean and well maintained. The ice machine in the fridge did spit out ice very quickly. Two LCD TV's complimented the rooms.

Good price for a business event and the free WiFi was definitley a plus. Modest exercise room with 4 treadmills and 4 ellipticals. Weight bench with dumb bells.

“adequate, but don't expect the Hyatt”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

Let me start by saying that the staff at this hotel is extremely friendly and helpful. I guess that's like saying someone has a nice personality, but... I booked this hotel using free nights because the other Hyatts were full. I had never stayed in a Summerfield Suites before, though Hyatt place was always nice. This is a step below Hyatt Place. When we got into the room, we first noticed a weird smell. Maybe it was just stuffy, because it eventually dissipated after we opened the windows. Then we noticed a dining room table in the middle of the room with no chairs. This table was enormous, about 8x4 feet, and with no chairs we could not understand its purpose. We used it to store our luggage. The bed is what you'd expect from a Hyatt, with great pillows, but the bathroom was a different story. The entire setup felt like a cheap extended stay apartment, and the bathroom was not exactly the cleanest. There were hairs left over from the previous guests that I had to clean up before I could shower. The cabinets had big chunks of wood missing and paint gone. The breakfast buffet in the morning was ample and varied, though there was a long black hair on my plate and the plastic spoons were all sticky, as if something had been spilled on them. To get to downtown Boston, we drove about 10 minutes and paid to park at the Riverside T stop to take the green line in. It's about a 45min to an hour ride. However, it saves you the hassle of driving. The Summerfield Suites weren't terrible, but I wouldn't stay there again.
