Beautiful setting for rooms with view of lake, very hospitable room staff including mails and very gracious and effective wait staff, especially Melissa and Sandy in Greenhouse Restaurant on site of Sturbridge Host Inn. Charming pool for exercise. All in all, outstanding for value, comfort, and atmosphere. JP

Three friends and I had dinner tonight (1/25/2012) in the VIP Lounge of the Sturbridge Host Hotel & Conference Center in Sturbridge, MA,USA. Our server/bartender was Donna,and she was the BEST! The food was delicious, her recommendations were great, and spot on! (Thanks, Donna!)

Other than the wavy mattress, this hotel worked out quite well for our needs. We needed a place to stay for a family funeral in the area. The breakfast buffet in the hotel was quick and efficient. The place was a bit dated, but was close to everything. Our five year old enjoyed the pool.

Stayed here as part of a tour and it was the worst hotel on the tour. The first room I was given had an aircon vent with no vent- so I could see straight into the roof. It was also surrounded with mould and the roof looked like it would fall in at any minute as a result. Got a second room- miles (and I mean miles!!) away from the rest of the group. Asked to be changed. Got back to my room and my things had kindly been packed for me- except I had my things laid out everywhere. Would have prefered to pack for myself. Third room door battery was dead- kind maintenance man fixed this quickly for me. This room also had a mouldy roof but I was so over it by this stage.my family in another room were repulsed by the lack of cleanliness in their room. It was absolutely filthy. Bed runner, curtains, carpet, chairs- everything stained. Walls in my room were paper thin- was a wedding on at the time and I was kept awake all night by the noise from the event ( happy for them to make noise just would have liked it more sound proof!)
Overall it was a horrible nights sleep due to the dirty nature of the rooms and we were certainly glad to be out of there!!!!
