“Surprisingly good experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

Unlike some of the other reviewers we had a good experience. We booked several weeks in advance, before anyone knew that the Patriots would be playing in a play-off game, so we received a good price for our room. There was a small area that was under renovation, but it seemed almost completed and didn't interfere with our stay. Our room, though not large, used the space well. There was a queen size bed, a couch, large t.v. and desk. If you needed to eat in, there was a fridge, microwave & coffee maker. The bathroom wasn't huge, but it was clean and had everything you needed. The breakfast was excellent. There were even cheese omelets, rather than the dry, overcooked scrambled eggs most places have. Plenty of pastries and cereals to choose from. Even though we were facing route 1 the room wasn't noisy.
Everyone was friendly. I had a little trouble at first using the wi-fi, but I realized you just have to wait awhile and then a page comes up with a holiday inn website. After that it works well. I think your view of your experience may be dependent on what price you paid. If you go to a patriots game you may be paying a high price and feel you overpaid. Also, others may have visited while the hotel was under construction.

“Don't waste your money!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

This hotel is awful! We came up for the broncos/patriots playoff game and booked this room because it was close to the stadium.

The hotel- they are remodeling so caution signs are everywhere and plywood is put up around the halls to keep people out. We have stayed in many HIEs and this is by far the least maintained.

The room- the room itself is not terrible. The beds are comfortable, it is not too tiny and the tv is large, however the carpet has white stains all over it and our air conditioner made a TERRIBLE sound when it was on.

The bathroom- the tub itself was not very clean. There was still some hair in the shower from the person who stayed prior to us.

The staff- the staff is nice but they are not very helpful at all. We called multiple times after the patriots/broncos game to find out where the hotel shuttle picks everyone up after the game. We were told it was at a school right behind the McDonald's, we looked and no school was in sight. We called back and the lady told us the same thing, we asked if she could call someone to find out exactly where it picked up bc it was freezing outside and she said no, but that it would be a 15 passenger white van. After asking a cop and walking a mile down the road the school was found. We were picked up by a 8 person limo, not a 15 passenger white van.

2nd floor- the second floor is (or used to be) smoking rooms. I don't know if all the rooms are smoking rooms but if you do not smoke or like the smell of smoke do not stay on the 2nd floor! It smells like an ashtray!

The breakfast- the breakfast was ok. Most HIEs have biscuits, sausage and waffles and this one did not. There were cinnamon rolls, runny eggs, and bacon plus the standard cereal, toast etc.

Price- my boyfriends mother booked the room for 2 nights and she is a priority member. The price of the room was $299 total. This is not a bad price for a typical hotel room at all but was not worth it in this scenario.

Location- the location is good if you are going to the pats game, a cab ride is about $14 there and about 5 minutes away. If you don't have a rental car and want to do other things it is not a good location! A cab ride from Logan airport is $100.
A cab ride to anywhere in Boston will run at least $50. There is also no where to eat anywhere within walking distance except across the highway.

Overall, I would not stay here again!

“worst holiday inn express i have ever stayed in”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

This hotel looks nice from the road, but take a side entrance upstairs to your room, and you will be sorry for not spending a little more to stay somewhere that isn't a total dump. The hotel really should be converted to a red roof inn, or a days inn, motel 6....something other than this. I stay about 150 nights a year at holiday inn expresses, and they have the most consistent product out there, but this place sucks. They don't even have iron boards without the iron locked onto them because as the front desk guy told me, people steal them. Nice. The bathroom is out of line with what the brand usually offers, same with room size. And, half of the hotel backs up to a busy highway that will no doubt keep me up all night. Fine for $60 a night, not for $90 to 100. Spend the extra $25, and stay closer to Boston, or further away from the stadium perhaps.

Room Tip: ask for rooms on the opposite side of the highway

“Another old Holiday Inn with a new sign”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

Disappointed again by a Holiday Inn Express. Clearly and older property with a slight refurb. The whole place smelled like a wet cigar in the hallways from the time I walked through the door. There was no elevator to the second floor - what HIE doesn't have an elevator? Did not enjoy carrying my three bags up a flight of stairs! The rooms were dark and two out of three lamps in my room did not work. May be it was just lightbulbs but even so that kind of lack of attention to detail leaves me wondering what else isn't maintained or cleaned. The matresses were old and lumpy and there was a stain on my bedspread. I was here on business travel but clearly they feel they can get away with this because of the close proximity to Gillette Stadium. Next time I'm in the area I will stay elsewhere.

Room Tip: If you have any difficulties with stairs or are traveling with large bags book a room on the first f...

“Great weekend close to stadium”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

My husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Sharon when we travelled down to see a Pats game last weekend. I had some reservations after reading some of the bad reviews but thought we would give it a try. We found the staff to be great, our room was clean the breakfast in the morning was better then I have had at other places. We had some problems with the WIFI in our room but other then that we were very happy. To only be a two minute drive to the stadium and Patriots Place was convenient and there is other shopping and places to eat a short drive away. We will definately stay here the next time we travel down.
