My daughter and daughter in law shared this find as a Christmas 2011 weekend experience. The hosts, Donnie and Katherine, are friendly and welcoming, the Victorian rooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable, and every detail has been carefully thought out, down to the flashlight by the front door so you can see to get in when it's dark. Flashlights are on the bedside tables too, in case of a power outage. I'd never seen that before in any place I've stayed.
By far the best thing is the food! Kathryn is a superb chef and each meal was a delight from start to finish. Breakfast included some type of fresh fruit (baked pears one day, baked applies another, and grilled pineapple on the third day), fresh pastries (pumpkin muffins...mmmm), and some of the lightest blueberry pancakes I've ever had. The amount of food was just right, without leaving me feeling overly stuffed. My food allergies were explained in advance and taken into consideration.
A bonus meal was the prime rib Christmas dinner on Sunday, starting with a red pepper bisque, and ending with a choice of four desserts.
I highly recommend the Isaiah Jones Homestead for a quiet getaway where you will welcomed and pampered.
