“Home from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

We stayed here for 4 nights after staying 4 nights in the 5 star Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel in Boston. What a delight it was to arrive at 1830 Quince Tree House, overall it wins hands down!! It has everything you need for a wonderful stay. It gives value for money, attention to details, beautiful spacious rooms , fantastic breakfasts and a gracious host. We would definitely recommend this guest house!

“Comfortable and clean and walking distance to almost everything”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2011

We stayed for 3 nites last week and was impressed with Richards attentiveness . He was a pleasure to see everyday and recommended various things that tuned out to be great. The inn is situated right in the middle of a quiet town with a main street that's away from the busy highway. You can walk to the museums and restaurants and shops without getting in your car. Breakfast were many courses and different every day. He's very accomodating towards your needs. The room we stayed in had a seperate living room and bedroom and was very comfortable and clean. He provides movies and sherry at nite - a nice touch. There's always refreshments available and water bottles or soda if you want, He was able to save us some $ on tickets to Nantucket, very appreciative of that.
All in all a very nice place.

“We loved it and will be back for a third visit next summer!”

This was our second visit to the 1830 Quince Tree House and it was as delightful as the first time. We usually stay for at least a week. The rooms are well-maintained, and decorated with beauty and functionality. The innkeeper makes superb breakfasts, is very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The inn is conveniently located within easy walking distance to many of Sandwich's shops, museums and restaurants. When my husband goes golfing, I wander the quaint streets antiquing. Everything was perfect! We plan to be back next summer!

“Expensive Stay”

I will start by saying that the beds were extremely comfortable and the breakfasts were great. Three courses were served and they do ask you about allergies . . . upon arrival. What I was extremely disappointed with was the price and the advertised amenities. Upon arriving and seeing the suite, it did not look like the room advertised on line. There were no white wingback chairs but an old rocker and an old wooden chair. Being a library, there was no overhead light to read by, only two lamps, one of which burned out on our last night. There was also an odor that I could not identify. The fan was also going when we arrived which was odd because a note on the door asked the guests to be conservative and turn off lights . . . . when leaving the room. A/C was controlled by the innkeepers and not units in the suites. On Friday night, we were asked to close the windows because they were turning the air on – which we did – only to wake up to find the room very hot and all the windows in the house opened at breakfast. It also advertises “Wine/Sun Tea/Cookies” in late afternoon. We didn’t ask and we didn’t see any wine, sun tea or cookies. Coffee and tea is available 24 hours. Snacks were individual sized bags of what I consider junk food - Fritos, pretzels, Doritos which we don’t eat. As for the ice maker, I’m not sure where that was. I had to knock on the door and ask the hosts when I wanted to fill my water bottle. It appears that there is a kitchen where these amenities might be found at the hours advertised but we did not see that kitchen either and I’m wondering if it even exists! It appears to me to be a bit of a bait and switch and for that kind of money I would expect a lot more!

“An Excellent Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2011

We are pleased to give the 1830 Quince Street House an excellent review. Seldom do we find such attention to detail and cleanliness. The house is interesting and one 'feels' as being back a few centuries. The Voden Room was very attractive and the bed was wonderful. No back ache here. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. Richard is an excellent host and we enjoyed his attention to our comfort. Kudos, for sure.

Room Tip: The Voden Room is smaller but has ample space.
