“Enzo - Great spot on Commercial Street”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2010

I was in Provincetown for a couple of days and stayed at Enzo's guest house.

First - the location is great - it is right on the main shopping street where all the cool restaurants and art houses are - Commercial Street.

Second - it's a short walk to the Pier to catch the ferry and to do whale watching.

Third - great staff. They don't usually bother you, and it's got a good restaurant (I did not eat here, but I read good reviews on it).

Fourth - the bathroom was clean, modern and spacious. It was recently all re-done and the owners did spend some good cash on it. Overall - I was pleased with the bathroom.

My room was quite small, but comfortable and I did find the bed too soft. This was the main drawback to this room. But considering that in Provincetown for summer, the place is busy with many vacationers from Boston, and rooms are limited, the price of $175/night seems adequate.

One of the drawbacks was that whilst I was in bed I could still hear the commotion outside, especially when the restaurant is still open. I was also provided with a wireless passcode which never really worked.

“Relaxed and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2010

I like the relaxed atmosphere of the guesthouse (check/let yourself in and no one hovering all the time as in some inns). Even with a 4-yr-old in tow, the room was great--clean comfortable, well-appointed, etc. 2 nights and 2 great (Noreen's) breakfasts outside on the patio watching the P-town morning set... couldn't have been more enjoyable or convenient! Bring your earplugs if you're a light sleeper. The walls are well insulated, but late night traffic on Commercial St. can keep anyone up.

“Buyer beware!!! Not committed to your buisiness - get out!!!”

Our stay was for New Year's Eve 2009 and New Year's Day 2010 (12/31/09 - 01/01/10). I had booked the WOOD END room in late October 2009 (Only room with a fireplace).

The first indication of trouble was when we visited ENZO's restaurant on November 7, 2009 for dinner during Provincetown's Restaurant Week. Though our dinner was good, we were not given the Restaurant Week Discount. The restaurant was closing after the next night for the season. Maybe the waiter (service was ho-hum) knew he was getting laid off and wanted to make the most of it. It amounted to approximately $14. I was going to go back for a refund, but really did not have the time.

Next, I receive my American Express invoice. Hotels in Provincetown normally charge a 50% deposit at the time of the booking -- No Problem. Except the ENZO hotel charged me for the entire stay. When I wrote to the hotel, the General Manager Jennifer apologized and offered to refund 50%. But why bother now!

At the time I made the reservation, I was informed there is no continental breakfast served in the off season. I found this acceptable since the restaurant was closed for the season.

The WOOD END room is nicely appointed. ENZO invested a lot of money a couple of years ago in renovating its 5 guest rooms. It's a very contemporary design. During our entire stay we did not see a hotel representative until when we were leaving on Saturday (literally walking out) 01/02/10. Our keys to the room were left in an envelope in the mailbox out front. There was a table in the hall with dirty dishes on the lower part of a shelf the whole time --- had these been left there since November when ENZO's restaurant closed for the season? The people in the room next to us checked out on New Year's Day and left their door open -- it remained open. We could not pick-up the phone and access hotel personnel -- you had to leave a message. THE MOST ANNOYING ASPECT OF OUR STAY: No maid service!!! Our room remained uncleaned until 5 PM on New Year's Day....I left a message, and the response was when returning at 7 PM someone had thrown a bag of clean towels in front of the door. We later found a card in the bottom of a bureau that stated if you wanted to have your room serviced you had to put the card on your door by 8:00 am that morning. And the room would only be cleaned between the hours of 9:00 and 11:00 am. ON NEW YEAR'S DAY --- GIVE ME A BREAK!!! The hotel couldn't have made other reservations???

It's ashame the owners have invested so much money in this establishment to have someone (Jennifer) managing it who doesn't know what they are doing!

“Amazing Dinner!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2009

I have been coming to the cape for 30+ years, but this is the first year I have tried Enzo for dinner!! We had a lovely spot on the patio, which left commercial street for a fantastic backdrop! We had wonderful wine, as we people watched and enjoyed the crusty fresh bread and hummous!! The food, was the best of anyplace on the cape we have eaten so far!! I ordered a special, striped bass, and it was cooked perfectly and served over homemade gnocci! My partner had a linguini little necks, crushed pepper and bacon! A traditional dish, but more than expected in taste!! Our server was friendly and efficient! We will definitely be back!!

Had dinner with my wife last night at Enzo. We started off at Bubula's across the street, but then remembered that we didn't get great service there the year before, so we left. Anyway, went to Enzo and had a great salads, entrees and dessert. Waitstaff was very good. I recommend Enzo highly.
