“too loud”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2005

my only real criticim of enzo's (esther's) is that it was too loud. we had the beach front room, facing out onto the street. it's a beautiful room with a great view. but when the town shuts down at midnight, everyone goes to spiritus pizza because it stays open later. spiritus is right next door to enzo's. it was so loud in our room that we couldn't get to sleep until 3 a.m. both nights that we were there. enzo's would be fine for people who don't want to go to bed until 3 a.m., but unfortunately, it drove us crazy. i wish someone there had alerted us to this fact, so i'm posting this review to let anyone interested know that if you want to go to bed on the early side, or even midnight or 1 a.m., this is not that place for you.

“Esther's is great!”

We were in Provincetown last week (3-5 December 2004) and can report that Esther's is a fantastic guesthouse. The helpful staff (thanks for everything, Ginger!), lovely decor and furnishings, the prime location and gorgeous surroundings, all made our visit one to remember. Everything was spotless, and extremely well maintained. We stayed in the Beach Forrest room overlooking the main street and the bay, and loved gazing out at the view from our own private sitting room. Complimentary breakfast was thrown in too! Sure it was quiet, being off season, and only one other room was occupied that weekend, but we felt very much at home and enjoyed having the place to ourselves. Why wouldn't we? We would thoroughly recommend Esther's and certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, in season or off season. In fact, we just can't wait to visit P-Town again - we LOVED it there. Here's a hint for anyone contemplating a visit in the colder months: the Provincetown storekeepers all offer amazing sale prices just prior to their closure over the winter (usually after the first weekend in December) - in most places there are savings of more than 40% on ticket price, and the most amazing bargains are just waiting to be snapped up!

“Not quite as advertised”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2004

So, it was not quite 'in-season' (last September) but if you look at the web site advertising this establishment, what you find here will be very different.
1. Filthy (and I mean filthy)
2. Mold in the tub, growing on the shower curtain, certainly was not cleaned before we arrived.
3. Tub would not drain so I pull up the stopper to see what the heck was going on (you don't want to know what I found - it made me gag!)
4. Food was OK
5. When we complained they did try to make things right.
6. The place IS creepy. Great if you like that sort of thing. But, we really felt ALONE in the house at night. I think there was a caretaker living in the basement :-) But off season is not the time to stay here. (Maybe it is cleaner earlier in the summer?)
