“Great For Families With Young Children (Stay in Suite 3 - its a gem)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2011

The Watermark Inn is a great option for families. While researching places for families in P-Town, I found it difficult to find a nice place that welcomed young children. The Watermark Inn is a nice place that welcomes children.

Our family of 4 had in Suite 7 and 8 which were side-by-side on the upper floor with its own private deck. Suite 7 had a full kitchen with a 4 burner stove and oven, a full-sized fridge and a dishwasher (its the only unit with a full stove and oven). It had a separate bedroom and a living room and a dining area. We had loads of space.

Suite 8 was open-plan with sleeping, living and dining areas. A neat feature about both of these suites was the loft space that was accessed by a pull-down ladder. This space really captured my preschooler's imagination and he loved playing in his secret fort. Theoretically, you could sleep 2 more people up there as there were 2 additional beds (keeping in mind that getting up and down the ladder is only for the nimble).

We also had grandparents staying in the huge Suite 3 on the first floor.

If I had to do it again, I would definitely book this place again but I would go with the units on the first floor and I would definitely book Suite 3 for the reasons below.

First, the upstairs deck had wide railings and a circular stair to the downstairs that was not toddler-safe. The downstairs deck had the same railings and open steps down to the beach but at least the distance to fall was not far.

Second, the downstairs units and Suite 3 in particular had a more "homey" feel to them and a better vibe. Suite 7 and 8 were practical and serviceable but the walls and furnishings had a shabbiness to them. We also had a 48 hour ant problem in Suite 8 - hundreds of them were on the march one day. The staff responded promptly and did the best they could with ant traps but ants are ants and they were on the march. They disappeared the next day.

Third, the upstairs units were too bright. This is not normally a problem for me but the cathedral windows and white walls combined for a need for sunglasses indoors. The quality of light in P-Town is such that even on grey days the sky is bright with reflected glare. I found Suite 3 was plenty bright enough. If you have children who still nap you may find Suite 7 and 8 too bright.

All in all, we had a great stay here. We came during a chilly grey week in late May but we still had a wonderful time. When the tide goes out it goes out for miles and leaves behind all sorts of interesting things on the beach. The walk into town is about a mile but very pleasant with strollers. There is a gourmet grocery and take-away deli a few blocks away (Angel's Foods) which was so handy for getting food to heat up. The staff at the Watermark were nice and attentive and generally lovely.

I highly recommend it, especially if you are vacationing with children.

Room Tip: Suite 3 is the best room.

“Absolute Perfection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2010

I stayed at the Watermark Inn in Provincetown with friends early in June of 2010. The Inn is located in a quiet but in-town location right on the Bay. Our room, which was impeccably furnished and clean, opened to a deck right on the water. The location and room were both lovely. I must also mention the fantastic service we received. Ron spent a long time with me to make sure we had the right room for our trip and recommended an the perfect restaurant for our night out. We had a wonderful time thanks in large part to our choice to stay at the Watermark Inn.

“Roomy, architect designed, classy "home" in the peaceful East End”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2010

For starters the Watermark isn't really an inn. It looks like one with it's charming many gabled design, but each dwelling is really a very private apartment with kitchen, spacious livingroom and bedroom, nice bathroom and a private deck overlooking Provincetown bay. Plenty of room to hang out in if the weather should turn bad. Apartments usually rent by the week. Some people rent for two weeks. If you can't have your own home on the bay, then the Watermark is your best alternative. It's not inexpensive, but we stayed in something no better than a cheesy motel the last time we were in P'town, and it was only $50 cheaper. If you want to treat yourself to the best, stay at The Watermark.

“A dream... - cannot fault the location or room (except we had to leave!)”

Me & my partner were looking for total relaxation in a beach front apartment in Cape Cod - a destination I've always wanted to visit. Nothing prepared me from disembarking the ferry from Boston to Provincetown - it was idyllic. This was only topped after walking along the picturesque 'Commercial street', laiden with heavy luggage, when we arrived at Suite 9 at The Watermark... Without breaking into song, it was both homely, comfortable and with views of the bay that I will never forget. We both absolutely loved it. The slight distance from the town (approx 20 mins) made it even more special & the walk into town was so pretty it was hardley a chore!

Although, spending slightly more $$$ on accomodation than previous holidays, I can honestly say for the first time ever I am happy to be debt! Xx

“The most beautiful waterfront spot in P-town - still love it after 16 years!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2010

My partner and I have been staying at the Watermark Inn every summer for 16 years, and I always book for the next year before I leave. There just isn't anything else quite like it in town. The waterfront rooms with sliding doors out to private terraces are the best feature. The view of Provincetown Bay with views from Truro to the point to the harbor are magnificent! Sometimes we just sit all day and watch the tide come in then go out. Peaceful, relaxing, quiet. The rooms are decorated in a light and airy scandanavian style, and all rooms have galley kitchens. This is critical in a town like Provincetown where eating out 3x a day for 7 days can get very pricey, and tiring. To wake up and brew your own coffee and watch the sun rise over the bay - unbeatable. The kitchens are handy and perfectly suitable for making breakfasts, lunches and simple dinners followed by eating them on your lovely waterfront deck. And when you do desire to dine out, town is a pleasant 15 min walk either on Commerial Street or on the beach.

If you do have the misfortune to have a rainy day, then the rooms are spacious enough, with sofa, dining table and charis, to stay inside looking out at the ocean with a good book, unlike many places in Ptown where the rooms are so small that you really can't stay in them other than to sleep. We've done many a jigsaw puzzle on that table on rainy days.

The housekeeping staff come in every day, are completely respectful of your privacy and totally trustworthy. Most have worked at the Watermark for years. They will load your dishwasher and tidy the kitchen as well as making the beds and cleaning the bathroom. Fresh towels are available every day. One tip: if you're staying for a week and like plush towels, bring your own and be green, saving all that laundry water from the Ptown system. If you get chatting, you may just get a local tip or recommendation too.

I can't disagree enough with the negative review on this site. This is a charming inn run by the owners, who are often on site. It is not a chain that runs all night long. They inform you of their desk hours and leave keys and instructions if you're checking in late. The lofts are lofts - which are fine for children or a hearty adult who is staying over for a night or two. If you have a problem the office is open during the day. This is part of the charm, staying somewhere where the people care and you are left alone if you want to be. No fuss here. If you expect the Ritz, go to New York City. There is no restaurant or bar, but then again that is all in Ptown. I personally love the beach atmosphere, the simplicity and the consistency year in and year out. We even see some of the same people every year.

We stay at the Watermark several times a year and look forward to every stay. We recommend it without reservation, and I have told many a good friend about our little treasure.
