We found out about Provincetown about three years ago and decided to spot out a place to stay. Lucky for us, we decided on Surfside Inn (due to the fact that they are dog friendly, and we have two super awesome dogs). Upon getting to the hotel one fine day in the fall, I was promptly greeted by the host Elaine, who is the most awesomest (here I go using the word ...'est again but I did it on a purpose) and gracious host ever!! She was very friendly, kind and nice and we feel at ease almost immediately! It did help that Elaine is such a dog lover when she brought two dogs treat to lure.. err treat our pups and they immediately became her friends.
The suite by the water was fantastic!! Not to exaggerate with ...'est but it does have one of the most beautiful bay view! When the tides come in you can literally see the water outside your French door (the suites are strategically layout in a manner where it uses stuff like French doors (and mesh frame) to maximize the light and view. I am a night owl but when I am in Ptown, I always wake up early - open the blinds, and wowee - hello WORLD!! It is truly one of the best thing in life and I am thankful that I am able to experience it.
Breakfast on the house - lotsa Waffles, rotation of some good ol American fare such as biscuit and gravy (it was very well done!) Bagels abound with abundance of toppings - jam, cream cheese or any concoctions that you want to come up with (oh by the way did I tell you that the staff at this place is like the nicest people ever? They are so flexible and so easy going that they are pleased to accommodate you - within reason of course (I mean if you purposely spill some orange juice on the floor and ask them to get on their knees to wipe it up - surely no one would do that right?) They are the kind of people who can forever be your friends if you allow them.
15 minutes walk to the town - and if you are a dog owners like me - stop at Wired Puppy coffee house along the way to get yourself wire.... err I mean some good coffee (dogs permitted inside). Easy drive to the town, you can get some snacks and bring it to your hotel room - as they have mini kitchenette in the room (fridge and microwave). They are ample parking spaces - if you could not find one - you can scout out Elaine's co host - Dave (which is a hoot - sorry Dave!! It was meant positively, you know you are awesome and unique) and he will find you a spot even if he have to hurl the tour bus across Maine! (okay he would not do that - but you get my point)
They have this round fire place close by the pool, with wooden chairs (along with all season couch - super clean) where you can buy some drinks and pow wow with your friends in the evening especially during a slightly chillier night. Guests are respectful (most of them are repeated visit) calmness and quietness is assured at night!
This is one of the best getaway spot on planet earth (I don't know where you go when you go to Mars) but I am warning you - if you come to Surfside and experienced their hospitality, they will literally OWN you as you will find that you will be coming back years after years for many years to come. We know as we make it out home away from home twice a year and always go back home refreshed. Thank you E + D + K + L + C + W + F + F + S + the rest of others for enhancing our lives. We love you!
