“The Anchor Inn has seen better days”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

This is not the Anchor Inn circa 2005, when I first became acquainted with this hotel and knew it as ~the~ luxury inn of Provincetown. The Anchor Inn of today is in need of significant renovations/upgrades and it also needs a management team that is much more professional and customer service oriented. I stayed here over New Years, and while it wasn't all bad, I was very disappointed by the condition of the room (really dirty carpeting) and incredibly thin walls, which allowed me to hear my neighbors coming home in the wee hours, waking me up, among other things. There are positives: it's a great location and the bed and linens were very comfortable. But if you're looking for a real luxury experience (or as close as it gets in P-town), with a professional staff who treat you like a real guest, there are better choices.

“Cozy Inn Perfect Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

We stayed at the Inn only one night but are excited to go back. It was a lovely place to stay. Our room was located on the 2nd floor of the Inn. We had a large balcony that we shared with other rooms which overlooked Commercial Street. The room was nice. We had a gas fireplace, a small wet bar and a large bathroom. The room was clean, but the rug should be replaced soon. It was worn and there were some stains. The host, Chris was so helpful, accommodating and friendly.

“Lovely Inn With Spectacular Views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

The Anchor Inn is on Commercial Street in Provincetown in a perfect location to shops, restaurants and galleries. The inn is quite large, with 18 of their rooms facing the water. We stayed in a very spacious suite on the second floor with a balcony, fireplace and wet bar. The interior decorations were lovely and it was a very comfortable accommodation. The innkeepers have owned this property for a little over a year and are planning renovations. We ran into a few problems. Our fireplace did not work the entire time we were there and the bed was so hard - for us that was a definite problem. They are planning on replacing the mattresses. It would have been a nice touch, as they often do in B&B's and inns to have tea or wine in the afternoon. The "house dog" Molly, a chocolate Lab was a wonderful addition.

Room Tip: Be sure you get a room with a new mattress.

“Somewhat disappointed.”

Although it is obvious that the Anchor Inn hasade some improvements in the past few years, it has a ways to go. I was in room #121, an inside suite located on the back of the building facing the harbor. The room was spacious with a fireplace (I never used it due to the humid weather I encountered during my stay) a comfortable king bed and very clean bathroom. They are heavy handed with the bleach while laundering the towels, so it leaves a rather strong smell. For the money, I would have expected to see real glass tumblers rather than plastic cups. Wine glasses were available upon request, however. Breakfast was average with not a very wide range of choices available. The coffee, however was quite good.

There were times when a staff member was not available when needed.

I travel extensively and I guess I am spoiled. For the money spent, I expected more. New carpets, wallpaper and updated the audio/visual equipment is in order. I'm sure there are better accommodations for the money.

One major plus is the million dollar view.

“The most beautiful view...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

Just came back from Ptown having reserved at the Anchor Inn for the seconfd year. I wish I had found this place years before. Its perfectly located and has the most spectacular view. Michael and Chris are most friendly and will bend over backwards to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We stayed on the top floor the first year in a suite and this year in rm 107 on the first floor(no stairs). The Inn has a beautiful entry and great room where a continental breakfast is located each morning. But the best is the front porch. It has the old time high back rockers, maybe 10 of them, where you can people watch all day. It seemed that every one who walked by either took a picture of the building or pointed to it. We ate lunch out there one day and had pre dinner cocktails the next night. Evidently Mike and Chris are new owners and have lots of plans to update. You can tell the previous owners let some basic maintanence go but from what we heard the ac system has been replaced and rugs etc. will be next. Anyway we had a blast and can't wait to go back. Pat and Gail

Room Tip: No elevator so if you don't want to climb flights of stairs as for the ground or 1st floor. But...
