The purpose of our trip was to see some family in the Plymouth area during a holiday trip to Boston.
We booked through Priceline and got a great deal on the room. Unfortunately, some unforeseen circumstances caused us to not be able to make our planned reservation. As our room was booked through Priceline, I figured the room was lost. However, a call to see if there was anything to be done about changing our non-changeable reservation was met with a can-do attitude from the reservations agent who happily changed our night by a day.
We arrived about two hours before the advised check-in. The front desk agent was able to check us in with no problems. The room was clean and spacious. While I've seen more outstanding hotel rooms, I've certainly seen a lot worse. The room was comfortable and spacious, especially if we were staying longer and planning to spread out a bit. We were on the 3rd floor. If you want a water view, try to get a room on the 4th. We could just see some bits of blue, but one more floor would definitely help.
The beds are a bit firm and I didn't find that adjusting the sleep number on the bed did too much to help.
The bathroom looks as if it had recently been redone, with black granite counters. The drain in the shower wasn't quite up to snuff and the shower dial was starting to fall apart. However, the bathroom was acceptable.
The hotel is quite spacious. There are lots of seating nooks and areas to relax. The décor is a bit dated, with that pseudo-colonial look that grandparents would appreciate. The pool area is very nice. I didn't bring a swimsuit, but I did go down to check it out. If possible, bring a swimsuit. The pool area is kept warm, so it would be a nice place to spend some time.
The location is great. It's located in between the harbour and it's stretch of restaurants, as well as the historical sites of the Mayflower II and Plymouth Rock, and Main Street, with even more restaurants and shops.
I stayed in another Radisson earlier this year and this hotel, while comparable, is a better property and somewhere I could see myself staying for longer than one night.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a decent room for not a lot of money. Admittedly, we were there during a low point in travel to the town (it felt like we had the hotel to ourselves), so it may not always be as cheap. The location is great and the hotel, while not out of this world, is comfortable and well-appointed.
Room Tip: Try to get one on the top floor if you want a water view or a room overlooking the pool.
