“Nice place to stay if you want to visit Boston and Cape Cod”

We chose to stay at this place because we wanted to visit both Boston and Cape Cod so this seemed like the right place as Plymouth is right in the middle. We arrived quite late at the B&B because of traffic but this didn't seem a problem and Barbara was really accomidating. We had the room with the double bed and the ajoining room with the twin beds. They were a decent size but, the twin room especially, was really dark even in daylight. The decor of the rooms wasn't really to our taste but if you like lots of trinkets with that olde kind of feel, then this is the place for you. Apart from the decor and the rooms being quite dark, this was a great place to stay. The beds were comfy and the bathroom was a good size. The breakfasts were wonderful and different every day and Barbara had loads of good tips on where to go, how to get the train to Boston and what good restaurants to eat at. Plymouth is a really small town and there isn't that much to do (we went to the plantation, about 2 miles up the road, which was good) but it is a nice place to walk around.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and is definately worth staying at if you want to visit Boston and Cpae cod.

  • Liked — Good breakfasts, good advice from Barbara
  • Disliked — Quite old decor( but the house was old so i suppose it matched), dark rooms, not much to do in Plymouth except walk around

“homely historical b&b”

Stayed here for 3 nights at the start of September last year. The house is amazing - full of history and lovingly decorated with furnishings in keeping with the age of the property. It is situated next to the Mayflower Society building, minutes from the Rock and the main street of shops and cafes, and about a 15 minute walk from the harbour. Hostess Barbara went out of her way to make us feel welcome - the breakfasts were amazing - Something different every day!
The only thing I would say is that Plymouth is a very small town (in american terms), and the public transport is practically non-existant so you definitely need a car to get about. We got the train down from Boston, and the station is a good couple of miles from the town centre of Plymouth. The bus runs pretty much whenever it wants, and only old people really get it - everyone else has a car. Even the people in the tourist information office in Plymouth were unable to read the timetable!! we ended up walking the 3 miles out to Plimoth Plantation (although everyone thought we were mad!) and though we managed to get the bus back (and it is a straight road from the plantation to the centre of town), we had to change buses at a layby on the freeway just outside Plymouth in order to get back to the town centre. We also arrived the day after labor day (september 6th), so it was very very quiet and pretty much everything was reverting back to winter opening hours, and a lot of the ferry services and whale watching/fishing tours had stopped.
