stayed 1 night while travelling round Massachusetts, as a result of previous reviews. The motel is a little dated in decor and may not be to some tastes, however this is compensated for by its convenience for touring the Berkshires and by the cleanliness which was impeccable.
This appears a small family run concern and we were given a warm welcome and encouraged to ensure that in view of cold weather we used the additional heater provided in the room. Some traffic and rail noise was evident but not excessive in either case.
The motel is not The Ritz, but you are most definitely not paying Ritz prices.

Overall a friendly place and good value.

When I read the review about Lucy and Desi, I wasn't sure what they meant. I understood the moment we walked in - you'll find this charming little motel right out of the 50's. Very clean, very appealing with carpet that looked new, a microwave and refrigerator, screens in the windows and air conditioning. You'll fall in love in a minute. Just down the road from the Hancock Shaker Village. Easy to get to Pittsfield center. Owner is very nice, with a reasonable cancellation policy. You'll find other places in the area practically hold you hostage if you make a reservation. Price was right. Only small complaint were the pillows in our room were a bit flat. If we are in the area, we will come back in a minute!

This place is a charming base for a visit to the Berkshires. We really liked the screen doors and wood-paneled walls. All the rooms are ground level and it felt more like we had a small cabin than a room at a motel. Our room was very clean and it had a small fridge and microwave along with plenty of heat for chilly mornings. Wegman's grocery store is just a few miles down the road in case you don't want to eat every meal in a restaurant.

Very convenient for day trip to North Adams to visit the wonderful Mass MoCA. Entrance to the Pittsfield State Forest is very close by the motel . . . great trails for short walks by the brook or longer treks into the woods.

It can really be a challenge to find a nice (but not extremely expensive) place in the Berkshires that will allow a dog. The owner was very nice and welcoming to us and our small terrier. This will be our regular spot for our trips in the Fall.

If Lucy and Desi took a budget vacation in the Berkshires, they would feel right at home at The Heart of the Berkshires Motel. They would also be happy with the accomodations. This little motel is right out of the 50's, but is nice with super white sheets and soft towels. The beds are comfortable (NOT out the 50's, rest assured). The place is REALLY clean. The owner is nice and very helpful. I would not hesitate to stay there again, especially at the price, which was only $49.00 in the off season. Pass by the big bucks places, and stay here if you are looking for good value, cleanliness, and basic comfort.
